I use bleeds as a big part of my hunting and fighting, but it seems there that either flame singlean flame cone are technically useless in a real battle. For example, i'm hunting tortons, I hit them with my healthshot 1 and healthshot 2 since they stack, go to hit with my flame special and half the time it misses. Then if it does hit it has to be close to the target and then i'm left actionless for around 10 secs and in no way to prevent the torton from closing in (using either warning shot, suppression or lowblow). Is there a way to effectively use the specials on the flamethrower? it only seems logical that the specials should have the same max distace as the weapon itself, but then again logic is not soe's strenght. What is the max range that any flame special can be used, and once again is there a more effective way to use it?

If you can, knockdown your target before you switch to flame thrower. Use your pistol whip to knock it down, switch to flamethrower, hit it with a burn, proceed to run. *L*

that's a good idea, except from the fact that lowblow or pistol whip are murder on the ham bars. From a practical point of view i cant lowblow every torton i fight since it'd take me longer to recuperate on the action bar and therefore fighting more tortons. Is there any other way? and what is the max distance?
