Actually, it's in many FAQs that you should do this no matter what the board or medium. I'm an aspirant and I did it. It also helps to immerse you into the class a little bit as you find out the problems, cool things and sometimes the fun stories. It's probably one of the best ways to find out if you want to pursue the class or just 'monitor' it for future consideration.
