Thread: Commando Researchers- I need Your Help

Greetings fellow commandos. The recent changes to commando have been a raging hotbed of discussion on the Correspondent Discussion board. Lord_Pall finally responded to a post and I'm furiously trying to defend our cause against comments from other combat profession correspondents. Many of them seem to think it was perfectly fine to remove our melee vs. ranged bonus with nothing to balance it out, so that now we're getting our butts kicked in close combat. I keep explaining that we are now on the receiving end of that penalty, yet are forced to fight in melee range.

What I need from you... I need you all to watch this thread closely. I'll be posting questions here that I simply don't have time to research or can't research because I'm at work. I'll be asking for technical information and need brief, clearly written and accurate responses. I'll be using those responses to back our cause in my rants... um, I mean discussions with other correspondents and designers.

Remember, accuracy is important. I don't want to use information someone has given me and then look like an ass when it's wrong.

Consider yourselves as part of the commando "dream team" and pitch in.

You got it Synn, just tell us what you need. Want screencaps too, or will concise summaries be enough?

First questions:

Rifleman-

  • What is the range of their specials?

  • What are the total accuracy bonuses of a Master Rifleman?

  • What's their best special and what kind of damage does it do?

Carbineer-

  • What is the range of their specials?

  • What are the total accuracy bonuses of a Master Carbineer?

  • What's their best special and what kind of damage does it do?

Pistoleer-

  • What is the range of their specials?

  • What are the total accuracy bonuses of a Master Pistoleer?

  • What's their best special and what kind of damage does it do?

Concise summaries should be enough. I'll ask for more detail if I need it. I mainly need stats and facts to back up our arguments.

This is from the Pistoleer forum on their best specials right now:

As a Master Pistoleer (+74 speed) with a 2.0 speed weapon:

BodyShot3: Speed =(2.4 * 2.0) - (2.4 * 2.0)(74/100) = 1.25 seconds.2.5 damage / 1.25 seconds= 2.0 Health Damage per second

StoppingShot: Speed = (4.0 * 2.0) - (4.0 * 2.0)(74/100) = 2.08 seconds. 5 damage / 2.08 seconds = 2.41 random HAM damage per second = 1.32 Health Damage per second

At Master with 1.2 speed weapon:

BodyShot3: Speed =(2.4 * 1.2) - (2.4 * 1.2)(74/100) = 1 second (speed cap).2.5 damage / 1 second= 2.5 Health Damage per second

StoppingShot: Speed = (4.0 * 1.2) - (4.0 * 1.2)(74/100) = 1.25 seconds. 5 damage /1.25 seconds =4.0 random HAM damage per second = 2.2 Health Damage per second

So I'd recommend BodyShot3. I made a mistake in my previous post. But why did I get a one star ... was my post THAT bad? hehe

Riflemen:

Rifleman accuracy at master is +97

Rifleman speed at master is +95

The above two include the bonuses from master marksman.

All their specials have the same max range as their weapons. I believe this is 64m for all.

Cannot accurately answer what damage their best special does. I have seen it used, but have not used it myself.

Carbine:

Carbine accuracy at master is +115

Carbine speed at master is +65

Both of the above include the bonuses from master marksman. Neither include the bonuses from the bounty hunter carbine line, which more then double these numbers.

Have never even seen a master carbineer, so cannot comment on either their max damage or best specials.

Pistoleer:

Pistol accuracy at master: +105

Pistol speed at master: +79

Both of the above include the bonuses from master marksman. Neither included the bonuses possible from the bounty hunter profession, which more then double these numbers.

Majority of specials work to 64m range. Pistol Defense I and II as well as the Point Blank Shot specials require the target to be within melee range. Best special last I knew was stopping shot, which could do upwards of 2k damage per second.

My info was accurate from the last major patch but may not have reflected any recent hotfixes or changes in this patch...so that next post may be more accurate...commando was taken directly off my char post-oct patch
