Thread: What's a good starter weapon?

Just made Novice Commando, just wondering what weapon should I start with? I've been getting varied responses, some say to start with the LP, some say the FT. What's the best for PvE?

Since I had some pistols skills already from marksman, I used the launcher pistol until I got to flamethrower 2. FT is just too slow and inaccurate until you get the FT3 box (at FT3 your flamethrower accuracy modifier becomes higher than your pistol one, assuming you just have marksman pistol skills) at least. If you have a very fast flamethrower I guess it would be ok at novice - Im using a 2.9 / ??? - 990ish now, and it would be good for a novice due to its speed.

Here is the trick I always advise new Commandos...First get Novice Pistoleer...yep, you heard me...Novice Pistoleer...This gives you /healthshot2 which comes in very handy for grinding with the Launcher Pistol...
Use the LP to go up the Flame Tree...in the beginning, you'll mainly use the LP...when you hit Flame 2, start using the FT a bit more, but use the LP with /healthshot2 to start your fights...when you get to Flame 3 you'll notice a huge difference in your speed and accuracy, so much so that you'll no longer need to use your LP and can rely pretty much solely on your FT for the rest of the XP you need...you'll be amazed how quickly you'll get Flame 4 (things will die quickly)...After you get Flame 3 you can give up Pistoleer Novice if you want (or keep it and go up the Pistol Trees to make the LP even more useful)...
That's how I did it...The key is getting to Flame 3...

I used the LP untill Flame 1, in which case I just did /aim about 5 times followed by Flame single. Sure I probly could have gotten better results with the LP, but one hit killing thing with the Flamer was more fun >=)
