Thread: Launcher pistol should have its own tree

I have been a commando for quite a while now, and I have noticed that Grenades are rarley used, maybe even never used, and there is that beautiful Launcher pistol there with no specials, which i would much rather use. So i was thinking, to help the commando proffesion, instead of being one whole tree of grenade certifications and mods, there should be a tree for the Launcher Pistol, the heavy weapons tree would turn into combat exp and then the new Launcher Pistol tree would be heavy weapons xp. As in Bounty Hunter, the pistol tree is probably the most powerful in the proffesion. Which should be the same in Commando because the Launcer Pistol shoots rockets and high speed and if it had specials such as a ranged knock down, a DOT special and a Health, Action or MInd pool based attack could be very powerful and it would make the commando proffesion a whole lot more fun than Flame single 2 and Cone 2..ALL THE TIME, it would be a great change and make Commando a whole new experience. Well anyway, it was just an idea that i really hope the DEVS take into concideration. And please post your thoughts and any ideas you have. thanks =)

Don't give it a tree at the cost of other improvements such as an assault carbine or fixes to our existing weapons... If it would sacrifice anything else, to hell with the launcher pistol... that's my humbly blatant opinion

i agree, either make nades better, or give commandos their pistol tree

I'd prefer the assult rifle over the lp getting improved, but definetly the lp improvments over the grenade improvements.

Personally I would prefer that they combined the HW certs into the tactics branch, eather combined the FT and HAR branches or ditch the HAR, and gave use 2 new branches similar to what the BH profession has BUT unique to us, say "Commando Unarmed" (unarmed mods and specials)and "Commando Rifle" (rifle mods and specials) or "Commando Ranged" (pistol, carbine rifle mods with generic specials).
First they have to decide if we are gonna be Heavy Weapon Specialist or an Elite "Soldier" Profession though.

I agree. I would not want to see a PL tree at the expense of other things, such as a new assualt weapon or, dare I say, E-Webb.

I would like to see the following done:
Either drop unarmed 4 for commando, or give commando a few unarmed mods and specials(good specials).
I would then completly redo the skill tree with the following:
Get rid of the grenade line (Field Tactics)and stick in an unarmed line.
Keep the flame thrower line.
Get rid of the acid rifle line and just add it to the heavy weapons support line. These specials would be completly redone to work with the launcher pistol, acid rifle, and other heavy weapons that could be added in the future.
In place of acid rifles line I would add tripod weapons like the E-web.

thats why my tamplate works so well i have almost all the types and all the pistol specials.....and i use my extreme offense to make up for the lack of defense.

I say don't give us unarmed specials... give us defenses to show our melee prereq. It would much better suit us... our flamer already puts us in melee's harm's way enough, and with the new weapon switch delay, we can't wait to switch to our fists in that range. I think if they put in either Commando Toughness, massive def vs. X's, massive melee/ranged defense, or align us with counterattack or some other type of secondary defense to show our unarmed melee prereq, I'd be a very happy camper. (not camper in the gaming sense... just for the sake of the expression... on a side note, all campers are condemned forever into the pit of hades... but that's another topic entirely... now I'm just rambling on and on and on like a fool floating in the ocean... or something)

If launcher pistol had its own tree, I would master commando again. I left commando for a bit to go down pistoleer (I am a master smuggler). I tried TKA while I was at it. Now I started to back to commando and have decided that I want to keep my strong pistol abilities. So I am keeping some of Pistoleer (for the Geo Pistol) and going BH 0040 for eye shot, the speed and accuracy mods and the scatter pistol. And I get novice commando for the launcher pistol. If the launcher pistol had its own branch, I would give up BH and go master commando.

id go for a own lp tree its a shame you have to go up a different profession to use such a good weapon.

I agree that we should have assault rifles. I'd say that they should group the FT & HAR together under Heavy Weapons (as a skill tree)and add a new skill tree line: Heavy Carbines. This would allow us to use at least onespecial carbine assault like weapon that only Commandos are certified to use but can be enhanced by getting Carbine tree points or even BH Carbine tree points.
For the grenades, we should either get a serious fix for them, or it should be dumped all together and have that skill tree soley dedicated to Launcher pistols as was mentioned above.
We should also get alot more skill mods for mastering commando in a similar way that Garvin suggested. Heck, we should even get a slight upgrade to our defensive capabilities...although I may be pushing it there.

I was just thinking that any assault rifle/carbine that we use, could/should use Electricity as the base of it's damage. We already do Flame, Acid and Blast (from Launcher Pistols) damage. A weapon specializing in Electricity would balance us out.
