Thread: Commando, and where we should be in the PvE and PvP Ranks.

A little bit of stats here to begin -
Commando takes 67.6% of all our points to master.
Bounty Hunter takes 67.6% of all our points to master.
Teras Kasi Artist takes 36.8% of all our points to master.
Rifleman takes 36.8% of all our points to master.

TKA and Rifleman take 54.4% as many points to master as Commando and Bounty Hunter. What does this mean to us? We should be that much more effective and hard hitting. If we're taking 169 skill points to master a profession, and they're taking a measly 92, why don't we do 169 dmg for every 92 dmg they do? Sure, with our "prereq's" as commando's, we get a bunch of skill mods and the sort. Wait. Not really. If you're a commando that uses Flamethrower, you may realize, all of Master Marksman, is almost 100% USELESS for your flamethrower skills. And Unarmed IV? Why? Maybe to make us think that we need to master TKA to get any sort of defense skills so we can actually be good in PvE. Riflemen hit for the same, or MORE, damage than we do, and have effects like blind, and dizzy. What do we have? A single burn, in 4 stages. And a tree that is a waste of my time and exp. HAR should just be gone, it's absolute crap. What do we need? An assault rifle with a grenade launcher, yes that would be nice. We need something. We need to be able to do more damage than riflemen and TKA's, and should be able to kill 46% faster than them. Because we're using 46% more of our skill points to get it. We're a hybrid profession, with nothing from unarmed. They're elite professions, and everything they learned before can be used. You can't use AT LEAST 2 of the tree's in Master Marksman as a commando, and even then, using the skills from pistols isn't really all that great. Plus our combat exp tree is yet another joke. So we take that many skill points, to get to the goods, flamethrower, Heavy ACID rifle(Should be HUGE damage 'eh?), grenades, rocket launchers. But what get's used? Flamethrower. Launcher Pistol. Why? Rocketlaunchers, grenades, are all too expensive for the dmg they put out. In the end, we're taking that many more skill points, for sometimes even less output. If that's not a broken system, I don't know what is.

Commando -
Block +0 (-70 from rifleman, 0 from TKA)
Cover +0 (-80 from rifleman, 0 from TKA)
Melee Defense +9 (-31 from rifleman, -53 from TKA)
Ranged Defense +22 (-50 from rifleman, -23 from TKA)
Flamethrower Accuracy +80 (-20 from rifleman, -125 from TKA)
Flamethrower Speed +45 (-45 from rifleman, -70 from TKA)

TKA -
Block +0
Cover +0
Melee Defense +62
Ranged Defense +45
Unarmed Accuracy +205
Unarmed Speed +115
Unarmed Damage +245

What does this say? At almost twice the skill points, our stats are HORRIBLE, compared to professions that are half the skill points. The abilities don't even come close to make up for this.

Which is our problem. Against a 0% resist to heat mob, we will almost ALWAYS out damage any other class with 1 shot. Although sometimes rifleman may do more, but almost never with a normal shot. The problem is, TKA's have already attacked 4-5 more times before we attack again, and rifleman at LEAST 2 more times. It's either speed, or give us a massive damage boost. We should be able to out damage these elite professions when we're forced to use almost twice as many points.

My record with a T21 is 11000. Sad, but true.

You prove my point right there tho. My max I've EVER seen, without a special, was about 1.3k, and with flamesingle1, about 6k. Then again, I'm only 0030 but still. I have a 3.5 spd xxx-1xxx flamethrower....

Flamesingle2 can hit 16k on a 1100 max flamer easily. Problem is that you got the 11-12 second recharge time before firing again, while that Rifleman is firing every 2.5 seconds for up to a 3k damage per second average.

The real issue behind the scenes that's killing us DPS wise is the profession lack of speed modifiers, and the broken SEAs.


If Master Commandos get a +30 speed bump, they'll be firing off flame specials AT speed with the existing broken formula, if SEA's workedand the HWs attack speed cap was the same as EVERYONE elses, they could fire them as a fast as everyone else.


Remember the current formula for attack speed IS broken, if you can get your speed mod to +98 or higher you can do any attack with any speed weapon and attack at cap (1sec).


Conversally, if they go to the new formula being batted around the cycle time on specials will move abit,fast delay weapon specialists professions will be able to doaround 1 to 2 sec, meduim delayweapon 2 to 3, high delay weapon 3 to 5, BH crossed trained in a specialist profession will be better by about .5 to 1 sec less than a plain specialist. As commandos we will see the least difference, adding about 1 to 2 seconds delay to our specials assuming your using a quick flamethower (sub 3.5). This is assuming we get NO more speed modifiers when they or before they do the change.

Yep. I'm at 98 speed and I hit for up to 8k per second. Something's not right when I can solo Krayts with a macro.

Lets see, +30 speed for Master Markman, +65 speed for Master Rifleman, +3speed on SEAs?


And we putter around with +45 total!

If our enhancements/SEAs get fixed, that is not a good enough reason to say Commando is fine.


In my humble opinion, a player should not be required to have buffs and SEAs to play their profession usefully.


In our current state of Commando, I can barely hit the broadside of a barn with my Rocket Launcher on a good day. But this doesn't mean that I must buy a working SEA (if that ever happens) so I can use my Rocket Launcher with any sense of decency.


You can say the same with Carbineer and their crazy HAM costs.

Unless they get +7 or +8 to speed then it's every second I believe...and that's absurd.
