Just started another server alt, this one commado.
My other combat char is a Master Rifleman and I can basically drop any non group/dungeon mob in the game before it reaches me, which is to say MR is obviously overpowered but whatever...
I want to have fun being a Master Commando, torching things and blowing crap up.
So my question is how do you Masters do at PvE (I have no intention of pvping). Can you mow through those 27k mokk/janta missions. What about those 36k Enraged Rancor type missions (or are they not heat vuln)
Does the lack of AP on some of the weapons hurt real bad some times?
Can you go in to a PvE situation fully buffed and armored any not have to worry about anything?
What about the AE bug...in which you fire off an AE shot and it says you are doing damage but no damage is being done to the other targets in the radius...(a massive pet peeve for my Rifleman btw)
Is there a massive "WoW" factor when you are in a group?
Basically I want to be able to do the same (or more) content with my commando that I can with my Rifleman.

For Pve purposes there is no need to master the proffession because our heavy weapons take to long to fire in pve alone. Even in group hunts our greatest asset is flame Dot which don't stack anymore. I have dropped from master to 3-0-4-0 that gives ranged migration 2 and the melee and ranged defense bonus for us. Mastering takes to many skill points which can be better applied to defense stacking in melee proffessions. With the Npc,s having powers back it is unwise even buffed to go into a mob of janta or mokk hoping to limp away. Add some medic to templet and migrate stats to all mind fosus and willpower and maybe. Commando is only a useful proffession if you have a melee class. But Master is a huge waste of skill points watch the cloner on dant and every second person out of them will have a flamer in their hand.

no disrespect but i gottadisagree with Stisrabet.
i BBQ Mokk's and Jantas while doing solo missions like its going out of style, as a master commando i've not been killed by anything less than a SBD in PVE in a long time.
my PVE template:
Master commando
TKA 4004
pistoleer 0043
novice medic
this gives you the one good pistoleer special/state defenseand all the tk defense and meditate.
its a freaking firebreathing tank.
Master Commando is excellent for flame single2 and the increased accuracy.
yeah, like every other profession in SWG commando needs to have all its broken stuff fixed. butI frickin love it.

and to actually answer your questions:
ap and heat vuln ability dont mattervery much... why? Flame DOT. ( i want the old DOT back dangit!)
you can go into PVE fully buffed and with the right food, a good PSG and some stims (and the ability to use em) and not worry about anything.
AOE dots everything regardless of damage, after that first shot it hits everything aggro'd.
commando is fantastic in a group, flameconing everything attacking your team mates. awhile back i wanted to leave commando to try some other stuff... my guild woudn't let me... too valuable in group missions!
rifleman allows for different content than commando with its mind shot... but you can do alot with the fire dot.
i'm hoping we get that underslung carbine we've seen from push 10 on TC.
that would be pure goodness.

With my commando Im more PvP lol or try to be really more for base take overs but in PvE I could go out with one other person being a tank while I stand a few meters behind him and flame cone everything. clears out the bad guys in no time.

What he said.
It usually takes me no more than 20 - 30 seconds to roast every mob in a Janta or Mokk mission. Just piss them all off and get them to follow you in a close group while you run in circles and spam Flame Cone 2 on them. It takes longer to destroy the lair than it does to kill the mobs.
Only thing that killed me lately was a very nasty Black Sun NPC I found wandering around on Yavin4. Every now and then the Jantas can be a little annoying since they chain KD/Dizzy now and I cant get back up from it. They burn to death from the DoT before they manage to kill me though.

Master Commando by itself will do pretty well for most PvE. Where you will have trouble is against high end PvE where the MoBs have high heat resists. Commando is extremely reliant on the Flamethrower, so high heat resist targets are a pain in the rear. Another problem for a pure Commando is the lack of defenses, especially since our Flamethrower specials are in Melee range. Also, most MoBs will rush you once aggro'ed. Keep your Flamethrower on, expect to get pumelled.
That's why Commandos oftenly get Teras Kasi or Fencer to get defenses to help out in this matter.

I'm a Master Commando with BountyHunter 0/0/4/4 and Novice Medic. now with this group of skills i can use any heavy weapon, the BH pistol mods work well woth my launcher pistol and I have stim B's to heal myself. I've found that for me this is a nice combo to use cause I got the FT, LLC, Launcher and Scatter pistol available to me which covers Heat, Lightning, Blast , and Acid resist. And if that don't work well, I'm most likely looking up at the sky

I agree with all of you but I think i covered the stims and defense. With tkm you can be a one man army hell any other elite proffession will do. But Master commando alone with lets say artisan or any other non-combat proffession is a sitting duck. As for the accuracy of master I am only 3-0-4-0 and have noticed no worth while difference in aiming and if you take those points and dump into defense stacking your still more of a threat than a master commando ever will be. As for the killing mobs with with someone tanking well anyone can kill mobs with tankers that is never an issue. I love commando to only saying master is a waste!
