Thread: Should I try out Commando??

Hello everyone. As the subject states, that is my question. I'm currently a Master Rifleman, TKM, and 4/4/4/0 Fencor. Plus 3/0/0/0 Combat prowess. As you can see I'm only built for one thing and one thing only, to dish out carnage in pvping. I'm getting pretty tired of this template and want to try another. Commando's have always stayed in the back of my head and I think i'm finally going to give it a try. Plus I think there is always a time everyday that i'm wishing a commando was there to put on a nastie dot on an npc or a player. My burning question is, if there is anyone out there that can answer this. I need a Commando template that will hold it's own in pvping. Any ideas or templates already out there??? I know this can be done cuz i've seen a commando stand his own and beat his opponent in a duel, Commando vs TKM/MasterDoc. If you can help plz post.

there are several threads on commando an pvp...do a lil search as I don't want to type it all again (most people won't want to lol)
My pvp'ing commando is on his way to: M commando, TK 4310, pistoleer 0040, medic 0030
you need:
dodge/accuracy food
exo cakes are a must for commando imo
GOOD tactics
fast flamethrower (3s or faster)
accuracy experimented consumables if you want to use those, aim for 60+ on rockets, 80+ on HPBC
anyhow...Even as a no defence commando I smoked most /doc types, they have poor defenses and tend to spend most of the time healing, flamedots give a lot of BF, so you just need to wear em down

Heh, in terms of PvP, commando is one of the most disadvantaged of all classes currently (by itself). The only real way to make it viable is to go TKA Commando or Rifleman Commando (or possibly Pisoleer/Smuggler Commando too). The problem with commando is that the only non-consumable we have to rely on is rather slow and innacurate - and it's DoT attacks, which are the only really good ones for the most part, have a 16m max range. Expect to rely heavilyon other skills to support commando skills if you want to do well in PvP.
And if it's at all possible... have something equiped most of the time that lets you either get mitigation or evasion of some sort, the FT has no defense skills associated with it whatsoever. And don't use the HAR. It's really not worth it, hehe. You might be able to do pretty well with consumables, but bear in mind that tends to get costly and only really requires one line to do (unless you go for the master box for the extra RL accuracy). I've never used grenades to fight, myself, so I can't comment on them much other than saying that they cost even more to use than the heavy weapons, and they're usually a LOT less accurate. Kinda quirky in the way they work (unless something's changed recently, I'll admit I haven't used them in ages for the afformentioned reason).

That's how I beat doc template guys, The BF, even a master doc on halva can't keep up with 8 flame dots
