Have y'all read the Commando part of the patch notes? Here's 3 of the 4 new specials:

# Focus Fire: This ability decreases the area of effect on AOE weapons & gives a damage bonus. The damage bonus is only for non-AOE weapons.
# Dead Bang Shot: This ability decreases the range of an AOE weapon & gives a damage bonus - damage bonus only for non-AOE weapons.
# Overkill Shot: This ability has a long warmpup/cooldown but gives a great damage bonus. This damage bonus is for non-AOE weapons.

Notice anything odd?
Why have a special that decreases AOE that only gives a damage bonus for non-AOE weapons?
Why have a special that decreases range of an AOE weapon that only gives a damage bonus for non-AOE weapons?
How many non-AOE weapons do Commandos have at their disposal anyway?

Am I the only one that thinks this is whacked?

I'll have to wait and test it first hand, but it sounds ugly

I think you have the syntax wrong guys, I was confused by this at first too. I'm pretty sure that what it's trying to say is that if you use the special on a non-aoe weapon, then only the damage bonus applies. But if you use it with an AoE weapon, then the range/AoE is affected IN ADDITION to the damage.

Of course its a fairly moot point at the moment, as the multipliers are pants anyhow.

Yeah, I noticed this too. They created a paradox right from the get-go. If the special is intended for use with AOE weapons by narrowing their field of fire to a single target, they just stated that there is no damage bonus for using it, because it won't help AOE weapons to use and why burn up special ability points when you can just use a rifle instead and get the same effect? Clearly, someone needs to rethink that one.

Ok folks, this should be the last and final time (this same exact question has been brought up numerous times in both the two beta threads and independent threads such as this)...

It is misworded from beta, it means the PRIMARY damage of all Heavy Weapons will be modified. So AoE weapons will function like non-AoE weapons in effect. AoE splash damage are not intended to be modified by these specials, therefore will only do "normal" damage - as if we were using ranged shot.

Only non-commando specials will increase the AoE damage + Primary damage.
