Hello,

I am thinking about swtiching to Commando from Pistoleer. I just want to know how good is the pistol launcher? what is the normal damage on it? how about the speed? Do I have to go to the flamethrower route to increase its damage? or I still need to have the pistoleer skills to get bigger damage ? or it is good enough for me to just be in the first box (novice commando) and get certified with it? thanks for your input.

The launcher pistol sucks. Definitely not worth going to commando if that's all you're gonna use.

It doesn't suck, but the Flamethrower is the main reason to be a commando at the moment. I suggest keep your pistol skills if you're going to exclusively use thr launcher, or atleast keep novice pistoleer.

The LP is about as good at the Scatter. The damage is better than an FWG5, but it is slightly slower (probably about 0.4-0.6 seconds slower, on average, if I had to guess) and the HAM costs are about 1.5 times that of the FWG 5. Like the FWG5, it is also AP0, which is a huge plus for the scatter.

Currently and in the near future, Commandos have no specials with the LP, have no accuracy or speed bonuses with it, and it gets no more damaging ever. If you have pistoller skills, though, you can make very good use of the weapon.

Don't discount launchers. The main advantage over other pistols is no range penalties.

For sheer pistol power bounty hunter is the only way to go im smuggler 0040 pistoleer 0303 and novice commando due to the inadequate pistols ofered to pistoleer and/or smuggler..... the result is i make really neat explosions but get owned by every bh in p vs p. The main difference is the armor piercing of the scatter pistol and the speed at which the scatter can deliver the blow. If your into soloing and like the smuggler fd line as a safety net this this combo is quite nice since you can kill the mobs then use hvy weapons to destroy nests quickly but if looking for a p vs p monster the AR0 launcher cannot compete, even the 80-366 2.1 before powerup launcher i have, is no match for a bh and eyeshot with the scatter..

It's hard to judge the scatter on speed because almost ever BH using it has +100 pistol speed (which means the scatter could have a weapon speed of "10 years" and the BH would still be able to fire it once per second anyway).

In PvE I'd take the Launcher, because it does better base damage and has very low range penalties no matter where you are. In PvP (or against any armored opponent, the scatter clearly rules, because the LP's damage is cut in half). That said, anyone who'd take BH just for the pistol is nuts.

Assuming yuou can live with the HAM costs and are reasonably fast, but not a BH, the LP beats the FWG5--and that's the staple of the [istoleer at the moment.

Well any benefits you get for pistol apply to the launcher pistol. Specials, speed, and accurcy they all add in. Its even a decent overall gun for PvP with a few pistoleer specials behind it, you can start a decent bleed regardless of armor, its dispaly is at the target point confusing if you want to see what your target deals with attack something at point blank to see. Plus for us commandos a real quick switch to this means we can avoid nasty melee damage that our flame thrower may produce.
