Hiya guys. My alts a commando (hey, i wanted to play with all the toys i make) and I've been playing around with the accuracy mods on my flamer. I finally got it to

+12

+0

+0

where the original was

+12

-52

+0

The down side was it went from 430-828 4.8 to 430-828 6.0

I havent gotten it sliced yet but was doing some field testing and I dont think ive missed yet at any range.

Would there be any interest in something like this?

Also, I just heard that there is a speed cap of 4.8 on the flamer. I seem to be hitting way more often then that. Is this true or just a load of crap. Or...is there any speed cap whatsoever ( like the pistol 0.5)

The servers are down atm so i cant check my flamethrower, but it is a bit over 1000 damage at 4.5 speed sliced. Would i trade it for a weapon of your configuration? Hmmm, my initial thoughts would have to be no. The specials only work within 16m and if you do not use the specials then you are using an 800damage ap0 weapon. Guys with a pistol can do more than 800 damage at range so the idea of going commando to do that kind of damage to me seems a waste of effort.

I can do around 1100 damage with overcharge2 or stopping shot with a fairly average DX2, I can do in excess of 2500 damage with last ditch with a pistol. To be doing 800ish as a commando would be ridiculous in my opinion, to be outdamaged by a pistoleer or a smuggler.... I would hang my head in shame.

If you use the weapon for ranged attacks you also cant hit anything that is moving, and if you are on your own and trying to pull with this your will be lucky to hit other than the pulling shot.

As to the speed, i will check my logs next time i can connect, I am pretty sure we can fire faster than 4.5 seconds. It is quite common to find LLCs that are 3.5 seconds or faster, they do not really distinguish between the heavy weapons for limitations, BHs get caught in the same nerfs aimed at us.

Unless the speed thing is something new and I havent realised it then my answer would be, no, i doubt the cap is that slow. Wouldnt be the first time i was wrong though. I know 1second is the cap for weapons, i never read anywhere that HWs have a higher cap, they by nature have a very slow speed making it impossible to get anywhere near that with a weapon you wouldn't be embarassed wielding.

thanks for the help so far. however, that 800 is base damage. I think ill have to look up someones logs i saw ealier. I think they were time stamped. FYI, you said this

they by nature have a very slow speed making it impossible to get anywhere near that with a weapon you wouldn't be embarassed wielding.

Speed and damage go hand in hand. When you make wpns and experiment on damage, you do so on speed too (and vice versa). This applies to the stocks as well, which is what i was using to get the +52 to accuracy.

Hmm, also, i'm pretty sure I've hit movers with my flamer. Ill double check that when the server comes up. Ill pull with pistol then switch to flamer so i dont do much damage. Ill try this with my new accurate one. I should be able to get at least 2 or 3 shots off before the mob reaches me. I'll let you know how this one turned out.

Ok, ive confirmed it. With my new Flamer of Accuracy (lol, d&d nostalgia) i was hitting moving targets. Also, I was hitting targets while i was on the move. Also, hehe, I was hitting moving targets while I was on the move.

The tests

I would pull with my pistol from 63m.

As soon as the mob moved i would switch to flamer.

The mob died every time before it reached me.

I did this same test while running, worked like a charm.

I remembered missing alot with my other so i tried the same tests with it. Not once did i get the mob before it got to me.

It seems that a +52 to accuracy makes a huge difference. Currently, i have 3/2/4/4.

Id like to try these test with an HAR and see how they turn out. I saw a post that had logged game data. If anyone wants me to do this I'd be happy to, although i dont think the range to target is logged, however, if anyone is on ahazi and would like to do some of these I'd be happy to help (anything for commandos). Having a master wpnsmith and a commando seems to be helping bunches while doing tests like this.

My flamer is about438-848 spd 4.7 unsliced. I sliced it to a 3.4 spd and it's so fast its unholy.I also have a slow one sliced fordamage, that I usefor killing bases and lairs.

I'd have to say that most commandos are going to want speed over all other for most circumstances. As much as accuracy with the FT is an issue for us, I think that it is not the weapon accuracy that we dislike. The fact that we have no + accuracy while moving is what really hurts and that all of our Marksman +accuracy bonuses are wasted as soon as you whip out a FT or HAR. It hurts in PvE, but where it really kills us is in PvP since nobody stands still except newbs.

I would definatly take a flamer that didn't miss...your crazy if you don't. Also if you use overcharge shot with the flame...you can do 3000+ damage at range's beyond 16m!!!

The only time I get killed is when my flame misses...lol

Hmm. Interesting points on both sides. I think my final would be to have both *shrug*. one for long one for short. I've been using it on Dantooine today and I dont miss much at all. I can't remember ever missing a flamesingle2. Well, time for some more field testing. Keep em commin, your helpin commandos on Ahazi

Also, i think i can at least get half the accuracty bonus i have now with not much speed reduction overall. Would something like that be more acceptable to those of you who love speed?

Considering I had a 5.0 speed 600-1100 FT when I bought a 450-800 4.2 speed I could see me trying a perfect accuracy FT if the price is right. Since it is still experimental at the moment. It would be great if it got speed sliced down, or if you could replicate the accuracy with a faster speed. YOu make one with same stats but 5.0 unsliced and you would have a dandy weapon IMO.

Yep, thats what im thinking. Was testing it on dantooine today looking for a holcron, works great. The only time i notice the hit in speed really is on specials . It's hell for pulling though. Anyways, I'll work on the design and see If i can help us out on our little accuracy problem. Its looking really good so far
