From the swordsman board:

Some updates to the stats were made based on your feedback and a couple of balance issues...

  • We had to slow it down, but its still fast and one ofthe Swordsman's fastest weapons.

  • The Mind cost was reduced and its now the lowest cost.

  • The range modifer is a lot better - - it goes from -15 to +10 now

  • Because we've left it a beefy weapons, its now certified for level 3 Swordsman.

Thanks for the help on Test Center

Its cool to see that these kinds of changes are finally starting to be made, but this has me wondering...

Ive never heard complaints before about swordsman weapons not working or having problems. So why are the devs spending their time tinkering, adjusting, and fixing their weapons when we commandos are still sitting here, and have been sitting here for quite some time now,on a pile of novelty junk that most would call weapons?

Methinks the development order is a bit off.

Yes he is and he's doing a great job of getting all the information summarized. Just to keep everyone in the loop, here is a little bit about what is going on. I understand you guys feel "left out", but thats just the time drag from development.

  • As part of all the effort to focus on player issues (which you may have noticed with Runesabre's posts") we've gotten some visibility and some solid, dedicated development time to address player issues.
  • First on the list is the Investigation tree bugs. Wepps said it was a top issue for as long as he and I worked together and so has Tanks. Its listed as the number one issue and its in progress. I dont have a specific date because its a lot of analysis and coding. I can tell you that I got the green light from JustG to create a "virtual lab" on Test Center to go out with the correspondents and help to find and identify issues. We started this weekend and it was a big success.
  • The "jedi names on the terminal" issue was fixed as well, although that happened in the last couple of days. Im not sure if it will be in Publish 6 or 7, but it is in the pipeline.

And just to keep everyone in touch, I've started a "10 questions" exercise with the correspondents so we can get all the hot questions answered. Its a new effort, but Im sure Tanks will be posting on it soon...

HHmm...the bounty hunters got a dev response to one of their issues....maybe someday we commandos will be graced by the presents of a dev who will bring us more then the usual drivel about another nerf, or some sort of scripted dev crap.

I agree. I too feel lament towards the devs for such continued desire to ignore the commando profession. They speak of balance with every other word they utter, but I see no balance here! I see only the cries of the misinformed seeking to undo that which they do not understand. Commandos are not overpowered in the least, underpowered by most commando testament.
I still think a developer should create a character, work him from novice marksman\brawler all the way to master commando. Tell me then how "uber" commandos are. Maybe then they'll see what we the commando community has been trying to tell them for months now, commandos are a comparitvely weak "elite" profession.

we have been tweaked, majorly. before the big commando "fix" flamethrowers were at 5-6 for speed, and 180-200 max damage...that's it. HAR's were similar. rocket launchers were around 12.0 for speed and 500-600 max damage. grenades rarely broke the 200 damage mark. take a look at the stats on our weps now. much better IMO. try getting master commando with one of those flamers. hitting flamesingle2 for 1100 points of damage isn't that great when it would take 15 seconds at least to get another special off.

also, the weapon they're refering to in your post is the new scythe i believe. it was extremely fast, yet inaccurate and very costly to use specials. it probably did need a fix. i just wonder why they haven't done this for pikemen and their current weapons yet.

OK, as one of the older commandoes (admittadley former, but I will be back) I just want to say that you should not be jealous for other people getting fixes/new things. It does no good to spit on another profession, cause it makes us just as bad as them for crying nerf on us. Now, with that said, I do want to see us fixed, and I think anyone who reads my posts knows that.

This was the furthest thing from what i meant. Im sorry if it came across this way. Maybe its worded wrong. I truely am happy that other professions have gotten fixed and improvements. The last thing I would do is cry nerf to some other profession.

I was just trying to make a general point of how it seems that professions that are closer to working seem to be getting more attention then those that arnt. No anger, no bitterness, no flaming, just an observation.

My comment wasn't directed at any one person, just a general comment since I know people here do feel anger and bitter. Heck, I feel that way. But getting down in the slime doesnt help us any, and its pretty easy to cross that line, especially on the internet where the intonation of message is dependent on the reader rather than the writer. I know I have typed things that could be interpreted different ways, we all do. We just have to be concious of this.
