Thread: Devs!!! Isnt controlling turrets something that was meant for commandos?
I think the dev's idea was that Commados are more responsible for blowing up the Turrents then operating them...that's why we have the Ranged Blast Damage...they want us to focus on the other side of the Turrent rather then inside...
But if everyone likes, I can take this issue to the Devs to see if they will Clarify...just because something is released on TC one way, doesn't generally mean that it's going to be the same way when it hits the live server...I've already seen a preview of some of the Publish 8 patch notes and I'm already pushing for many changes...I can't say what they are just yet, but as soon as I can I will...The cool thing is, one of the changes I am pushing for gained support for from just about all the other Profession Correspondents...so anyone who thinks every profession is out to out do the others, the truth is that we've got many professions watching our backs...

i think that should be a perk for commandos..as we *are* hvy weapons
plus during beta there was talk of us getting a controllable turret or something...
still...look riflemen are the only ones in the galaxy that can db at ranged distances..why cant we be the only class to control turrets? it makes sense and should be...
at least it can qualify as devs throwing us a bone when they promised stuff to us (and yet strangely..totally forget us..how convienant)

Part of me wants to wait and see how this "controling turrents" thing works out...if it seems like they are more powerful with players controlling them, sounds to me like we can use this fact as a bargining chip to make us stronger to deal with them...
The way I see it, these auto-controlled turrets shouldn't have any real restrictions for operation, aside from maybe a basic combat skill of some sort.
However, if they can make turrets PC controllable, it stands to reason that they can make deployable E-Web's that we can use in a future publish. ![]()
We have the technology, now let's push for its implementiation!
We think very much alike Raptor...that's part of what I mean about being "observant" over the next week or so and see how these new PC turrents work out on TC...Play controlled Turrents could turn out to be a very good thing for us Commandos in the long run...1) It proves what is possible and 2) We must maintain our titles as "Heavy Weapon Specialists", so what do we get to compensate...that's part of my game plan...

I can see where you guys are going with it in hopes of giving commandos a boost but if you just look at how a HS can deal better with a turret than a commando can it seems to me they dont care how well we can take care of em. This was something that was supposed to be our role, I cant seem to find where it was at but it said only a commando can control large weapon Installations on the battlefield. So if your going to let anyone control an installlation (turrets)its like letting anyone take BH missions. Its not our skill its our profession and purpose, but you all know as well as I do, all purposes seem to be lost. Heck, according to the book we were supposed to be required to take engineering 4 and make our own weapons. The single thing to screw up the profession for eternity is they changed their mind at such a last minute that everything was already shipped.
I hope to return to commando one day but untill its what it is supposed to be im wasting money on a monthly prescription just waiting for it to happen.
Garvin, the big thing I think of is a BH is supposed to be the adest ass at one on one duels, and commandos are supposed to be able to control areas of battlefields single handidly. The only way I see us controlling a section of the battlefield without stepping on BHs toes for a one on one fight is if we get stationary weapons which take time to set up and create risks, but once we do, the weapon lets us control anything that comes in range. That would make it to where we are as they say and people do not aproach us unless we are distracted. Not to say we shouldnt be tough one on one but just right behind BH as a stand alone profession.
Oh and side note garvin, they already posted the publish 8 notes.
