Thread: Change of Heart

After getting to know some of the girls engaged in the practice and doing some thinking, I've had a change of heart.

The girls who provide Private Entertainment are simply Supplying a service to meet a Demand. After all SWG has a Player run economy doesn't it? (laugh)

I wonder how long it will be before the first True brothels open.. or if they are open already?

Just how would one go about running one?

Would you use a vendor? (hee hee)

I guess word of mouth advertising is about the only way to spread the word so satisfied customers would be a must. (LAUGH!!!!)

It'll be funny and interesting to see how that profession spreads and just how widespread it becomes. I wonder if anyone has ever done a Research paper on that phenomenon? Might be good Dissertation material.

I know of a few that were in AO. They don't last long because....if they are too cheap to tip you for dancing, what makes you think they will pay more for a cyber **edit**?

there wont be brothels.

Now people might want private dances in their homes and i know there will be fighters who want a dancer to go out in the wilderness and dance at their camps.

Sure there will be. I can name five that operated for several years in UO.

I find that sad for some reason.

I personally just find this idea kind of disturbing. I'm a dancer, because my friends need one in the party. I spend my time at the Cantina to make money (yeah right, cheap tippers), and to increase my stats to help my group. The last thing I want to worry about is getting a /tell or even someone openly asking if I would do a private dance for them; not to mention what about the whole underage issue, on both sides.

Just tell them politely and firmly NO. That works 99% of the time. The other 1% you may have to repeat it and if that doesn't work the the term Sexual Harassment can be mentioned politely. If that doesn't do the trick then... hey time to call the Bouncer.

I have played Uo for 4 years until this year, and Anarchy for almost 5 monthes now. I knew of 3 brothels in Uo and know of one former one in Anarchy so far. So considering the proffession in this game i am almost positive there will be eventually, if there isn't already one, a brothel org in SWG. Personally i don't see this as a problem. Flawed mentioned earlier about supply and demand and that is completely correct, there is definitly a demand out there. I personally am not going to supply it, but hey, if it's what you're into , go for it. As for the age issue, if a person can beat the living heck out of someone for being annoying (pking) the issue of wether they are over 18 never really comes up..you just attack them. I should hope though, the future courtesans out there will be able to tell if they're dealing with a 12 year old and have the good taste to decline service. another thought, alot of dances out there depend on tips for their living, If they want to add a bit more to their "dancing" to up the tips then, horray for them.

I find the concept of a brothel as pretty bland. There really isn't much to it. I mean anyone can emotecybersex with even atad of creativity.

However, I do find the concept of a SWG Geisha to be something more in line with how I would like my character to develop. Geishas are classy, talented, entertaining, fun to be around and respected by those who use their services. I like the idea of a dancer who could be called on by royalty or summoned to important meetings, formal events, and high priced venues in order to provide entertainment for their clientele. In this respect, a SWG Geisha would spend all her money on clothing to look just right for every event, similiar to how the Japanese Geisha spend nearly all their money on kimonos and their personal appearance.

I think its quite a bit of a stretch to go from "private dance" to "sexual harrassment". It's very RP to ask for one, and its very much in the SW universe to give one.

Now there is the general harrassment of being annoyed to death by someone and that is reportable of course. But as long as they never go beyond asking for a private dance, I don't see a problem.

A simple "No." if you don't want to, but with half the dancers saying Yes, you can't blame someone for asking.

Natresses you put it in a nutshell. THAT'S what I realized was bothering me so much. NOT that there were girls doing the dirty with guys in the back room but that they were so horribly BAD at it that they give Dancers a bad name.

The Western equivalent to the Geisha is I suppose the very highly paid call girls that have a limited and exclusive clietele and worh by appointment only or have their gentlemen friends on an agrred schedule. They see their job as Entertaining men rather than simply meeting their physical desires. Mental more than physical.

If someone shows some real discretion and keeps their Private activities private while maintaining their respectability at other times then who is the loser?

Most guys (from my experiece) are more attracted to a Lady who knows how to be a whore in the bedroom than one who acts the part of the whore all the time. While the latter may be interesting in a bar for a few moments, it doesn't maintain continued insterest for long.

Flawed I agree....I think the whole idea of dancers openly being whorish is quite a turn off and will often make a comment while they are dancing/whoring....I think it is an entertainers job to entertain and part of that is flirting, but keep it with in reason....plus the whole allure of being a dancer for some men is that it is an unnattainable woman and that is part of the fantasy of the experience. I love dancing and tell people if they want strippers go to Mos Eisley(just because it is part of my role play) but I have also had patron whom I have built up a rapport with whom have asked for a private dance. Nothing more is ever implied and I make sure they understadn that they are a good patron and therefore deserve such services. Would I enact a cyber *** activity, probbaly not but I will gladly flirt and try to enjoy what can at times be a fairly borign activity(especially in Mos Espa where the cantina's can be empty at times). I like the idea that we have an important role to play but I guess I have to also realize that some will roleplay their charactgers they way they will.

After joining the Rebellion last night I happened upon a spawned AT-ST and decided to give it a whirl and see what its really capable of. Needless to say, after being mauled in 4 seconds, I think its REALLY time to take a long look at CH power. Faction pets totalling 375 CL for one Imperial with a weeks worth of effort is really over the top. Gone are the days of Kettemoor's Imperial Dancing Rancor Brigade, enter stage right the Imperial Funky Chicken Chorus Line. Devs, c'mon, what's going on here?
