*S* I heard somewhere that there's a separate TC coming up for the Combat Balance. When's it gonna be coming up? Anybody have any other info about it? Any special joining instructions?

It's true...there are plans for a new TC coming up after the Jedi Revamp completes(possibly shortly after Publish 9 goes live)...it's code named "The Sandbox"...

As for the Who, What, Where, When and How? Nobody really knows yet...just a lot of speculation...TH said he'd reveal the details as soon as they put this current Jedi Revamp to bed...

Story is that Correspondents and certain Veterans of the game will be allowed to play on the Sandbox, but that hasn't been confirmed or exactly what will constitute "A Veteran"...I'm fairly confident it won't have anything to do with the forum title of "veteran" but more likely with actual in game play time...but who knows...they day I fully understand Dev Logic is the day I start wearing one of those jackets with no sleeves...

Boy would I like to help test the CB. Garvin, do you think they'll have commando starter sets like the BH ones a few weeksago?

I hope they do...How else would they expect us to properly test things...TH has promised to discuss these things with me and others after he can get this Jedi stuff off his plate...

I'm going to push for heavy access for the Commando community since he has stated repeatedly that "No profession is impacted as great as the Commando profession when it comes to the Combat Rebalance"...of course that could be good or bad...but still, if we are impacted so deeply, we need to test the heck out of this thing...that means we need Novice to Master Commandos in there firing things up...And knowing how difficult getting Commando weapon and good Armor is, we need to have much of that supplied to us...

Hopefully the BH test on TC2 was a good indicator of what's to come...with that test, each BH was given a full set of Armor, an LLC, a Pistol, and other needed items plus some spending money...That should mean the Devs are more then capable of making Commando kits for us...

Yeah...hmm I wonder since they're allowing "Veterans" this means that theres going to be some form of Character Copy specifically to The Sandbox? If they dont mean a veteran of the board (they never do), but of ingame...that would mean Stern Synex for me...my Master Commando...they would _have_ to take from live, as the veterans on TC are not enough to fully test such a huge project.

Interesting.

Or maybe they'll do what they did with Bounty Hunters on TC2...anyone who created a character with MBH at the end of their first name instantly started as a Master Bounty Hunter with the full Bounty Hunter Kit...

Maybe it'll be something like "Commando" at the end...like "GarvinCommando" to start on the server as a Master Commando...

Just trying to make guesses based off of past examples...

Being able o test pure commandos might be best for class v class balancing though...

Well, from what I originally heard about Character Copy, your skills get copied, but nothing else...you don't take any of your belongings...

A starter set might be more desirable in this case...

Problem is that we all have certain templates that we use...we aren't just Commandos, we are Commandos &....

Personally I'd love to test my M.Commando/TKM on the Sandbox...or some other combination...along with just testing a Pure Commando....so it that caset he Character Copy would be better, but they'd need to provide a Commando Weapon kit to play with...

Anyway...all of this is just speculation...hopefully with the Publish 9 going live 6/29 we will hear some actual details shortly afterwards....I'll keep poking TH in the ribs for any sort of tidbits...

/agree, and thanks for prodding TH about this, I'm very curious!

Also, I know my flamethrower better than whatever flamethrower they would give us, although I think it would be difficult to copy over all of our equipment. Not that mine is all that spectacular (although I do think it is great, it's just not a Krayt enhanced weapon), I just know what it's capable of. I agree, I would be more familiar with my template than a straight up commando.

Perhaps, but it would also be nice to see how various commandocombos work vs. other various profession combos. Again, I'm really not sure which I would prefer. At this point I think I would be better able to tell what I think is good and bad with my own character than with a starter set. That said, I'm content with whatever we get so long as I don't have to grind all the way to novice commando again!

I hope that make some nice changes, especially to the skill trees. I have debated to either fully master commando or just take the flame tree. After much thought I am going to master it in the hopes that it is fixed. If there is any chance of getting on the TC I plan on taking it.

They should make it so all skills cost zero XP and zero credits to train in the sandbox only, give a starter set of full armour and credits for all characters, and load the bazaars with a huge assortment of weapons for 1 cr each.

The only problem with that is they want to try and create a "real" testing environment as they've attempted to do with the Jedi Revamp...

They will want us to see how XP earning goes...how well missions go....how well we make money...etc...

They'll want things to work as close as possible to a live server, while at the same time providing us with the proper tools we need to make those tests...

If they just make us Masters of our Profession and give us starter kits we should be ok...If they make a copy of TC like they did for TC2 we'll have vendors and such to buy what extra things we needalong the way...and since there will be other professions on there testing their abilities we should be able to interact...

In the best case scenerio, there will be devs around on the Sandbox helping us build our templates however we like without having to do any grinding...

If they allow anyone to be any template they want immediately, you'll find that folks will figure out the best template and play on the test server mainly as that template...not focusing on the specific professions....I've seen it happen a bit of TC2...folks figured out the best Jedi template and for the most part all seem to use the same type of strategy (mainly starting with a KD)..

In a the recent Friday feature JustG stated that "Veterans are players who have played for 6 months consecutively"...I bring this up because the Devs once stated that the folks who will get to help test the Combat Balance will be Correspondents and Veterans...Maybe they will use this definition for making that decission...just thought I'd draw the correlation...

I'm not sure which I'd prefer: starter set orch copy... I would likely do all sorts of goofy tests w/ a starter set ch, but I'd notice more differences w/ Zadok from Radiant. Hmmm, either way it'll be good to get a look at the CB!
