Thread: Commando a 250 skill point prof?

I was on the jedi forums the other day and I noticed an interesting post. Someone had suggested having BH be a 250 skill point prof like jedi knights are. I got to thinking how cool it would be to have some ultimate profs. beside jedi. BH would be one and commando the other, with each profession being really powerful(BH being able to take a knight 1 on 1, not as powerful though, but the BH will have to use his smarts to win at pvp, if he is grouped the mission will fail). The difference between a BH and commando would be more of pvp vs. pve. BH would lean more towards pvp(for hunting jedi obviously) and commando would be based mainly on pve. While commandos will have a huge assortment of weapons at their disposal and be able to solo things any other prof. couldn't handle If each profession(BH and commando) had 250 skill points to put in for the entire profession there would be so many things the devs could do with them. Since this is the commando forum I'll just focus mainly on commando stuff. First, the reqirements for commando would be just master marksman to start(I know commandos use hand to hand in real life also, but unarmed 4 is useless). These are just some ideas I thought of, so any input would be cool to hear.

Novice commando
Flamethrower certification +10 speed and accuracy
Beam Rifle certification +10 "
Rocket Launcher certification +20 "
C12,Cryoban,Glop nade certification +15 " (for all nades)
Stim A certification(I put this in as a helper to commando since he wouldn't be able to spend points on med. and so that he would only be able to use these at start)

Heavy Weapons Support Commando Cunning(the tree in which commando has his unique skills&def.)

Ok,these are some of my ideas and some from the forum already. I tried mixing in what I've heard others say and my own thoughts. I'll let you guys decide what is missing and whatever input you have(I'm to tired to go into detail,it's 4 am). I didn't think of adding a blast or stun weapon in till now(other than Rocket Launcher), so that could be one thing missing for people who like to pvp(stun mostly). I'm trtying to come up with some new ideas like you guys so if you have something critical to say just be a good player and don't flame me(I spent around 2 hrs writing this). Also,the fireball shot may be a better choice to knockdown than what I wrote.

Ok,it screwed up my thread and i cant edit yet.
Cunning and heavy weapons support are 2 diff. branches as well as beam rifle and flame. the defenses and special shots go to cunning. sry about that, didnt know it would show up like that

I wouldn't be too opposed to making commando a 250 skill point profession, so long as we have some terrain negotiation; hell, that's the only reason i keep scout.


But, it would royally suck to have to give up tka meditation. Since there are no real doctors in the game anymore, only buffbots, a 250 skill point commando would almost have to be given a way to heal his own wounds, bleeds/poisons/diseases to be viable.

Yeah, good points, thats why i tried adding in some stims but maybe also some hlth/action packs as well

The only problem is that the Jedi Profession has many different routes you can go before you spend all 250 points...So there is a possibility of having different types of Jedi depending on their Template...


If they were going to create a 250 pt Commando or 250 pt BH they would have to do the same otherwise every Commando or every BH would be exactly alike (and what fun would that be)....


There are changes coming in the Revamp that will make the game feel more like a person is a 250 pt Bounty Hunter or a 250 pt Commando...When the Revamp Docs get released (whenever that will be) ask me what I mean by this...

Good point garvin, I didnt think of that. Maybe a mix and match of some profs like a squad commando or bounty smuggler

I take offense! I always heal wounds and diseases! *sniff* anyways - I do keep the meditation tree of Teras kasi anyways - just in case no medpacks are on hand. I would absolutely LOVE commando to be a 250 skill point profession, like everyone is saying it would be pretty gay to have to get rid of all possible wound healing, but if they buffed commando a bit, I think dropping the healing might be worth it...as long as you can find a doc willing to heal wounds.

You're one of the very few. Come to Valcyn; the lack of true doctors is why I took TKA meditation. I was keeping an average of almost 100 wounds, and could never find a doctor that would do anything but buff. Catch a disease, and they'd do nothing. Sitting in a med center for a couple of hours to heal sucks major ass, especially when you're in one of the larger cities and still can't find a doctor or medic to heal you.
