Im a novice commandoI have x 1 3 x on the skill tree but I am not able to use the flame thrower and yes i have looked at the specs and it is what it say it is it. I have all the other skill trees needed to get to commando, would the fact i,m still respecing every 12 hours have something to do with not getting the certs ? yet.

No, respec shouldnt interfere with certs.
Are you trying to use a Plasma Flamethrower or a regular Flamethrower? The Plasma has a higher requirement.
Also, make sure you check the combat level requirement if you havent. It may say novice commando for the cert, but it also may require combat level 50 for example, and you would need to be at that level or higher to use the weapon, no matter what skills you have in commando.
For lower level Commando, I'd look around for a Heavy Acid Rifle, should give you good mid range damage and the cert level is 22 I think.
