I'm just curious what a good DPS is for the commandos out there. I know we get the shaft compared to the carbineers out there with 550+ Modified DPS but what is considered good for Commandos?
I'm around the 517 mark.

DPS is not an accurate way to measure damage, just a quick way of assessing a weapon's value. In combat, most specials calculate damage off of the maximum damage number; DPS averages the min and max damage.
DPS also does not take cooldown timers into account nor action costs.
Basically, your mileage may vary. I use a Gorax equiped FW5 as my main weapon and I hit for 100 points harder consistently than using a DL44XT or spider venom Republic Blaster, all though all DPS's are similar.

Point taken. I was just trying to get an assessment of the flamers out there, comparing them to each other to see how good they get. The one above is nice and better than mine but not just because of the DPS, the max damage and speed are better unadjusted as well. I understand the template has a lot to do with the modified DPS/Speed.

The only thing that I would be worried about with this weapon is if it is actually doing it's heat damage. The line
obj_attr_n:[elemental_heat]
bugs me. I have a Decorative Headress made with synth cloths that gave +25 to cure and augmentation efficiency. The final product has:
[stat_n augmentation efficiency]: 25 (something like that)
Cure Efficiency: 25
Of course when I put on the hat I get the Cure Efficiency bonus, but not the Augmentation Efficiency. Now that our combat queue doesn't show what damage gets done from what we don't even know if it's working. I don't trust anything that shows up all weird like obj_attr_n:[elemental_heat]
Also did you make that weapon? I have really only made one or two wepaons after the CU, but I made one and I found that increasing the elemental damage increased the DPS more than increasing thebase damage did. This might not apply to high damage weapons though, but I wondered if you played around with experimentation?

it does heat, and it was made 2 years ago the max damage before CU was 1429 speed 4.4
