Thread: Master Commando / Master Smuggler, good combo?
Given the chances we had to respec, I've been respecing into so many different things to see how good they are that it's not even funny. So far I've tried:
Master Ranger / Master Rifleman
Master CM / Master Doc
Master TKA / Master Doc (I liked this pretty well for staying alive, poor specials though)
Master Pistoleer / Master BH / Some smuggler (prolly one of my favorites, way to stay alive anyways with FD, but weak)
Master Pistoleer / Master BH / some Squad Leader (I didn't like this much)
Now...
Master Smuggler / Master Commando / as much as pistoleer I can take.
I picked this setup for the Feign death protection, plus concussion and stopping shot. The reason why I decided commando was because I heard the specials were in the weapons themselves, which is pretty cool. I also head about the AOE (which I read here and read it's broken). My goal in this game is really for group hunting, but to be able to stay alive some. I don't want to be uber, but be worthwhile in a group.
Comments about this template?
Thanks
Im master smugg, master commando and 4-2-4-2 pistol (not postive about pistol , but have intimidate shot and alwasy use imporved body.)
Its fun solo and in group for GCW. Smuggler has great specials that work good with area weapons.
Dont always stick, but have seemd to work well. LOL- Feign death actually worked once, I was amazed. Oh, and Last ditch is the best for the LAST DITCH shot.
Now if they could only fix the AOE for Flamers it would be amazing.
Dont plan on respecing to anything else, and am hoping a smuggler revamp for content will make it better maybe in 2 or 3 years - wink.
Good luck.
Im Master Smuggler, Master Commando, Pistoleer 0-3-3-4 and the two FS defence branches and I kick behind in both PvE and Mass PvP. My crowd controll abilities are 2nd to none and I can still pack a punch. Its not the best dmging way to mix Commando but for PvE and group PvP its a lot of fun and you can take some mean punishment. In solo PvP battles its not the best by a long shot but its not the worst either. I have killed just about every prof solo so far and been killed by the same with the exclusion of a lot of Jedi templates. PvE I can solo mobs much higher level than me thanks simply to the Smuggler root ability and the various "debuff" and "state" attacks along with the AOE effects and feign death which stops aggro now too. I found this out when i ventured up to the corvette which still hasnt been CU rebalanced.
There are added advantages to Smuggler as well. You can craft your own spices and in case no-on has cottoned on yet spices stack on top of each other now. With the Village reward Health Buff Crystal, lots of Spices, Food, Drink and Klikklik glands you can get your Health stat to 10k supposadly. Most I have had mine at is 7.5k but still i havent used everything i just listed all at the same time yet.
I really cant say enough about the Smuggler/Commando in mass PvP battles either. Seeing a rocket fly in from 65m away and KDing and rooting on the first shot (with improved concussion shot) is great and the fact that you have melees ready to run in and smack anyone you root from such range is great. If we ever get HW's working with the cyber arm increased range ill be unstoppable i think...
Still practicing though and i presume most other people are too so it might be early days yet and at some point I reckon roots will be changed to "break" on any dmging attack like in most MMORPG's which will also change things.
Currently MCommando/MSmuggler 2024Carb.
I'm almost a required thing on my PA field trips, as when things go wrong..my regular flamer 40m range + concussion shot, can stop alot of aggro mobs to get to my team.
The AOE + Feign death, can also save my team, as I pull the aggro and run away and feign, leaving the team with a few things to kill while I keep them others away.
What I really lack..is the damage. I see no signs of our "5" in combat rating, and as a "solo" player, I'm pretty much busted if I try to fight anything large myself.
I tried to take on a juvie krayt, lvl 81, and yeah, sure I could keep it away from me, god forbid they fix server lag.. I see the mob 30m away, then suddenly it starts to hit me..so I move away, half dead...and then the mob move to my old position..
But, I found the juvie lvl 81 krayt, to regen somewhere between 300-800 HP per second, and with legshot1..and an Elite carbine with 503DPS, I could barely, if playing "action conserving" as in ranged shot 3 times between every legshot..more than that and I had no action when concussion broke...I managed to kill one, but it took me 10 minutes...
I want that regen!!! I'm 1 lvl under that krayt, and I regen like..10health per second? He 300-800?..something smells bad here.
Especially, since I were nowhere near my "supposed" commando damage outpit. Basicly because my commando weapons are useless or have a DPS of around 470.
My pistol got a DPS of 480 and Elite carbine 503..And the elite carbine uses less action than the pflamer too.
But..MSmug/MComm, is a good combo for a support profession, but prepare to take alot of aggro.
Yup its our lack of dmg that shafts us. I have commisioned some post CU weapons with nice tissues etc but I doubt it will make all that much difference since its down to the speicals too. Having said that using the respec and fiddling with various templates it didnt matter what classes I choose Commando Weapons all under performed dmg wise. I done so much better with pistols than with commando weapons on one respec that I almost didnt go back to Commando and that was before I added BH skills...
Still I always have been Smuggler/Commando guess I always will be another 2 years down the line. Why oh why did I pick the gimped classes? I done the same in AO with Nanotechs I must be jinxed.
Heeey! I was a bleeping Soldier in AO.....
I was tossed out of groups in favor of nanotechs....even as bad as soldiers were, 1.2minute survival....tossed out for a nanotech?
