Thread: Looking For Some Opinions

Ok, so I'm TKM / Master Brawler / Master Medic / Scout 3-0-0-0

I have 9 skillpoints left over.

Was thinking of dropping the crafting line of Medic (Hate crafting so I buy my stims) and picking up the Tech tree of Fencer (For Dodge). Well seeing as Dodge is not active unless I have a 1h Sword equipped, and since I am a TKM and use fists/vk's, that nullified that idea.

So thenI was thinking, maybe drop Scout totally and take up Doc (0,2,4,0) just so I can self buff. But having no Scout (Explore 3) makes me wonder how much of a disadvantage I will be in during PvP.

Looking over the other skills I don't see anything else that truly compliments TKM, except for maybe taking another melee line for the Ranged / Melee / StateDefenses.

So is another 20 - 40 points to defense modifiers worth it? Is self buffing worth it at the loss of scout? Is having no Scout a realy bad idea? I tried it once, hated the slow movement on inclines, and was told it absolutely necessary in PvP.

So, any thoughts, opinons, suggestions?

TIA

You could drop the medic crafting and instead of taking up fencer dodge line take up the def mod line for the plus to KD, Dizzy. I think that would give you a total of 70 def to KD alot better than the 20 at TKM.

I am currently a 0404 marksman, 4044 scout, 2122 pistoleer, 3213 chreature handler and looking to be a master squad leader.

Wat I need help with is after i am done mastering squad leader I will have5 skillpoints left. What would you reccomend that i put them in out of pistoleer or chreature handler?

Also what skill would you reccomend that i put them in ?(e.g pistoller tech shots for better specials)

Thanks for the advice.

Pistol tech 3 for Stopping shot and tech 4 for Fan shot (AOE attack).

If you don't like Fan Shot, drop it and get Taming 4.

I've finished off the flamethrower tree of commando. Was trying to figure out what direction to head in. With the state of commando I don't know if its worth it to put the effort into the other skill trees in commando. Was thinking about going for TKA for all the defensive mods. Good idea? I'm open for thoughts and suggestions.

I'm not big on unarmed and the thought of grinding all of those unarmed xp kills me. Was just glancing over the pistoleer skill tree and see alot of defensive mods that go with it. Maybe this would be a better choice? I'm soooooooo confused on what direction I want to head.

Looking for a bit of advise on what's a better combo for a master ranger. Before going master ranger, I'd been master swords, which I'd always loved and swore I'd never give up. I hadn't really settled on another proffession yet. I was getting really bored with the game when I finally decided to give ranger a try. Once I got novice I was finding that I loved it! I was excited about the game again. I had all but the last camping box when the CU went live. *sigh* I wasn't quite sure with this new combat system if ranger was going to be as enjoyable as I once thought it would be. I took the advise of some friends and tried out some different templates... the ever popular BH being one but kept the havesting/track branch of ranger. I hated it.. plusI didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of what everyone else seemed to be doing.I hated the thought of giving up something I worked hard at getting and was really enjoying just so I could be a better combatant. I've never really enjoyed ranged proffessions, I like being up close and personal with the mobs I finally came to the decision I was not going to let master ranger go. so I am now master ranger/master swords. The more I read here it seems that most of you are ranged profs. and that does make sense that a ranger would use ranged weapons, I do get that. lol What I am wanting to know from you seasoned rangers is.. Am I crazy for sticking to melee? now that we have 6 more days to respec I'm thinking of trying ranged again... see if it will grow on me. I know nothing of ranged profs, which would bebetter choice to go along with ranger? I'm thinking rifleman. I know you all will say.. choose the one you enjoy.. well, I dont' think I would enjoy one over the other so I am seeking your opinions.

sorry for the somewhat long post.. being short and to the point has never been one of my strong suits

Thank you all!

Firstly,

it boils down to what you have fun with.

Now for the opinions. I have been tka/ pike/ swords/ fencer. being up close and in the action has always been a lot of fun. However, rangers do have +accuracy vs. critters with ranged weapons.. so if you like the up close and personal action, pistoleer and carbineer might do well for you.

BH (what i am) provides a good mix of ranged styles.. which is why i picked BH.

I prefer ranged now because using traps have become my bread and butter since buffs are no longer the status quo.

if you like up close action... try pistols, they have some good specials and are quite fun and fast.

Draknev has the perfect ranger template IMO. That is if he has chosen SL 0300. Anyway, with traps there is no need any creatures should get in range to hit you. I use camo, throw trap, snare, root, critical shot, torso, KD, critical, torso, snare, root, critical and so on til death. Doest take long and they never touch you. I have 2 friends that are melee rangers and they sadly left the game stating melee sux and thats it. I wish they wouldve given it more of a chance and tried range but they simply hated range. Anyway, melee is good if you have doc, but iit really doesnt go with ranger as the game currently stands. Ive seen many melee drop like flies with this CU in place. Although a TKM/master doc can still dish out a whoopin.

So, in conlusion, ranged professions are more viable with ranger, MBH and master rifleman seem to work the best.

*But, after all....its what ever makes you happy and allows you to have fun.
