Thread: Open Letter to the Devs (Stern, please bring this to their attention)
I wonder if this is fun for the Devs? Like damn Jedi whine at us, let's pick on some idiots who are to nice to do anything.
Maybe punishment for being Uber Max in December 2003 or whenever we were Uber. I was teh Newb then as some would say so I don't know exactly.
Or punishment somehow against those who used Commando to grind Jedi. I mean look how warthless greanades are now. I think they saw Commando as a Jedi grind profession and said "Let's Kill Em!".

I'll keep this short and sweet, Other proffessions power up commando, not the other way around.
first off, the ONLY way grenades are going to be made worth using is if they give heavy weapon xp, not combat. It's as simple as that. We, as commando's have to get over it, and move on.
Commando's Primary role is that of a shock trooper, get in, Blow everything to hell and back, and get out fast, in PvE our limiting factor is agro management, we tend to piss everything off withen a huge radius. (we do however do significant damage to everthing in our cone) In PvP our limiting factor is action, we have huge action cost, and we tend to run through it very fast. i.e. we are a hard hitting, fast hitting proffession that tends to burn ourselves out pretty fast.
To sum it up, we are the ones that hunt squirrels with a 12 gauge shotgun.
Adding variety will help out commando in the long run, not necessarily making us a FOTM, but making us fun to play as well as balanced.

maybe my metaphor was not appropriate. My point is that commando's should be the Premier damage dealer. noone should be able to approach our dps. our downside is sustainability.
With 20/20 hindsight, I think that the whole approach to commando was wrong. Being a commando is more a way of thinking than it isabout weapons. we should have 4 nonconsumable weapons, the proton rifle, the rocket launcher, the flamethrower, and the launcher pistol. our emphasis should be on specials, we are high damage/high speed guys. Our motto is "get in, blow it up, get out" Massive damage for a short period of time. If we can't kill it withen 30 secs, we need to run, because we are out of action/mind, and therefore out of options.
Pre cu our one redeaming grace was that we could take down the biggest baddest that swg had to offer, we weren't tanks, we were the ones that could kill an ancient krayt faster than a jedi could, and leave it a chared corps with over 220k of health wounds.
That's my other suggestion, our dots should tick for wounds, win or lose, we leave someone with a nice present.

thou i do agree >_< being master commando is meaningless to me now.
I have my weapons but none of them can outdamege my carbine. such great heavy hitters we are, we dont even have specials much less a decent weapon in our arsenal now. i rather use my elite carbine then a flamethrower now. thats quiet depressing to me >_<
but yeah lower level jedis cant get spit done now. the grind is impossibly long its quiet annoying helping out my jedi guildys. much less with a profession that has no meaning now -_-
I just havefour things to say:
- Heavy Weapons shouldn't have a lower damage capability than a pistol. I mean, come on.....it's a freakin' pistol compared to a rocket launcher!
- Don't put in specials into weapons if they are broken....give us specials....nothing is worse than being an aggro king and not being able to do any dmg
- Grenades got worse....'nuff said
- Why bother to put in built-in specials when most of those weapons are so low in the tiers as to relegate them to nuna-killing duty? Please explain logic....
That's my rant....I could go on, but then I'd become rather uncivilized in my yelling hehe. ![]()
Here is how I see the whole thing...
Wait for it...Wait for it...Wait for it...POW...there you are...thank you and come again...NEXT...
In otherwords...There was a TON of careful and cautious planning that went into the CU...They worked it out...They reworked it...They then reworked it again and again...They were very specific to each and every combat aspect as they could be...then when it came time, after waiting so long and carefully taking their time, they rushed it and us through testing to meet a deadline...
The Planning Process was a very importat part of the whole package...about 50%....but I think they forgot that the TESTING process was the other 50%...I KNEW when it was announced that the Alpha testing phase was being skipped and a release date was set (before Beta testing had even started) that we were in BIG trouble...ALL of the Sandbox testers (not just the Commandos) agreed on this...we tried to warn them...
We Commandos did get great support during the testing process (the dev posts in our forum), but that needed to continue...we needed MORE TIME!
So am I surprised...unfortunately no....
my only question is why, after all this time, are other professions getting pushed ahead of commando in the fixit line?
especially jedi- i mean- CRIPES!
