is there a difference in how wide the cones are for different weapons? if my goal is to apply states in as wide an arc as possible, which weapon would i use?

Thats a good question. I have been wondering this too. Do we only have a radius now on all weapons? or do some have a cone as well? I have not used my flamethrowers lately since its very annoying to have to kill things twice.

FT and Acid streamer have a cone. RL, LBC have a 6m radius from your target. HBC will hit things in a straight vector between you and your target for 40m.

what about the launcher pistol and the HAR?
also... i have a question about the animation. the "flames" graphics appears to stream for a few moments have you initiate the special. if i were run around while in that animation, will i be able to swing the cone around and hit more targets? or is the cone only at the point when i attack, and the moving flames while i'm running is only a graphical thing?

My guess is its just graphical. The cone would be calculated at a certain instant -- probably the same time that the attack hits your main target.

I believe those are both cone but I couldn't honestly tell you since I haven't used them post CU. It would make sense for the HAR to be a cone and the LP to be a radius but things dont always make sense...

Does the Launcher pistol use heavy weapons or pistol mods to determine its speed/accuracy?

it appears that the launcher pistol is a radius not a cone.
also, when i have the launcher equiped, the character screen shows heavy weapon mods.

Hey, does the LP still have the cool explosion and shaking of the ground animation that it had when I last used one? I lost my LP when my house rotted away and have not needed to get one since. I used to love all the noise and explosions even though I wasn't doing much damage.
