I want to be a doctor/rifleman or a doctor/commando. I cannot be all three and I have heard the rifleman's side to this dilemna so now I need a current commando opinion. What do I do?

well....when looking ata character builder, if you want to be a doc/commando you can only have 2 trees in each and you cannot have the exploration tree in scout, so you'd be seriously gimped (only 55 skill points after novice commando novice doc without scout, with scout and explore you have 26 skill points...still at only novice doc and commando lol)

How good of a doctor do you want to be? If you want to master that profession, go with the rifleman. It's faster, easier, and a lot less expensive, which is very important considering the amount of time your going to be spending crafting medicine and sitting around the hospital's.

If you want commando, don't bother with doctor. It might be nice to have some healing available, but the best way to get it is to have a really good friend play a combat medic. Commando takes devotion, not just dedication. It's practically a religious belief in and of itself. With the skill point expenditure, and the combat grinding necessary just to achieve novice commando, it's essentially pointless to get commando unless your going to max out the class. The benefits of novice commando aren't even cost effective for people who have already got their bounty hunter cert. Maxxing out commando leaves you very little in the way of points to do much more than dabble in another profession, and at least until the fixes come in, we're still looking at having to take several skills from scout and pistoleer to be effective, which will eat up most of those remaining points.

And on a side note, a flamethrower was actually designed for taking out light targets. Specifically unarmored people. It's pretty useless against a tank, particularly modern, enviromentally sealed ones. Against people its great, it's area affect, it does severe damage to the targets, continues to damage them after the initial hit, can spread to collatoral targets as the initial victims run around, has beneficial secondary affects (particularly in enclosed spaces), can temporarily blind those it doesn't hit providing cover for allies to move forward, and is a great psychological weapon as well. Using it on a gnort, or a dancer, may seem overkill, but honestly, if someone lights you on fire, are you going to be thinking about much else at the time?

Oh, if your wondering about the signature, it's an actual conversation that took place during basic training in the navy. The gun range was down that week for repair and renovation, so instead of actually training with weapons, the recruits were just being shown pictures of an M16. Seriously.

Go Doc/Rifleman, if that's the choices. Doc/Pistoleer in my mind makes more sense. Most healing needs to happen on whoever is closest to the target, and you need to be 5m from them, so you'll typically be about 5m from the NPC. That's pistol range.
