Thread: Accuracy of Heavy Weapons
Just wanted to check with you all and see what kind of accuracy you've been getting on your Particle Beam Cannons and Heavy Rocket Launchers when you use them to target enemy playerswho are50+ meters distant. We get a +70 mod to accuracy in the former and +100 to accuracy in the latter, but it seems like I'm missing more than I should lately.
What's your experience been?
To have the best chance at success of using these things, you must pay SERIOUS attention to the to-hit range mods on the weapon and set yourself up at the precise distance from the target. I hardly miss with them, but I don't use them that often...
...and you can leave em at home if you're considering PvPing...
Yes, they stink in most PvP. Its a shame too. They shouldn't miss as often as they do.
But in larger PvP battles, the RL is your friend. Especially if there is a battle "front" and a no-mans land where people are all shooting accross at each other, sending pets out, etc.
Just hang back until others start targeting each other, then creep up into ideal range, kneel, aim, and start shooting rockets downrange. People will usually tend to bunch up, so you'll be amazed at the splash damage and incaps you do. Great fun!
Be ready to pull back though, because once the other side realizes you're a commando spamming rockets at them, you will quickly become the target.
The most I've been able to do to enhance my accuracy is to line up at close to my ideal range and then use the aim command before firing. With a Heavy Rocket Launcher firing at a group, I try to aim at someone who's not moving - seems like the splash is more effective this way.
I know a Weaponsmith on Chilastrawho I'm going to see about getting Heavy Weapons experimented for maximum accuracy. Maybe the problem for most of us isn't the quality of the skill, but the quality of the weapon's to-hit modifiers, in the same manner as Pikemen...
I've had pretty good luck as long as I'm in ideal range and the target is stationary.
