I've adjusted your title, now it's even more clear
How could it possibly be faster to ask in here, than to hit the nearest bazaar and get a definate answer, that you can see with your own eyes, on the server you play.

Always help to know what you're looking at you know...
Generally, unenhanced Plasma Flamethrowers (good ones) hit around 930-960 max damage, depending where the weaponsmith put his experimentation. Don't be taken in by "low speed" or "high elemental" Plasma FT's as the DPS (and speed) ultimately for our weapons aren't as important as damage. Decent speed, high damage, and low SAC is golden.
Heres an example (the PFT's I sell on Valcyn):
2.97 spd
948 max dmg
89 elemental damage
100 SAC
From what I've seen on the galaxy-wide search, these PFT's I sell are some of the best on the server that are unenhanced. Too often I see higher DPS (lower speed) versions that have 120-130 SAC, or same speed and damage, but elemental damage closer to 100.
Good and all, but the primary problems I see with this are:
1) Our lowest SAC (100) is still higher than many other finely crafted weapons. Although advanced stocks add speed, they greatly reduce SAC (cap is -24, with -22 SAC advanced stocks you can get a PFT to 100 without using any experimentation on action cost, on the actual weapon, which you can put to the speed of the weapon to compensate)
2) The experimentation on elemental damage is fairly worthless in my opinion, as for every point the actual value is only improved by several points...the experimentation points on our weapons are much better used elsewhere.
3) With speed...I had a PFT that was 2.55 spd, which compared to my enhanced 2.84 PFT was able to fire off specials approximately every 3 seconds. The difference? I had not only lower SAC, but I also did far more damage (1900 compared to 2300 using improved legshot). Granted, this is unenhanced vs enhanced, but if I had a PFT like the enhanced, it would be lower SAC for the same speed/damage. Reportedly the time between specials is hardcapped at 2.5 seconds, and most likely our heavy weapons will rarely reach that if at all. It seems if a PFT is below or around the speed of 3.0, you should be fine with this.
As for the stats I posted above, using fully experimented SAC components, I would put 10 experimentation points just to get the 948 damage (and using quality resources pretty much, not the best, but good quality), and then my extra 2 (Im a 12 pt weaponsmith) into speed. Of course It would be faster if I didn't use a stock, but then the weapon would be 122 SAC. Honestly, I would prefer a slightly slower weapon (it probably is maybe a few tenths or hundredths of a second slower) than a very high SAC weapon...
Hope that helps!

Has anyone made an enhancedPFT? What I'm interested in is the crafting damage cap on it.

The crafting cap for our CL54 HW is around 1148 (opposed to the 1184 of rifles), this can easily be reached if you use krayt tissues or the new power cells with 150-180 damage on 'em. At least if you fully experiment on damage; you may use the tissues/power cells to get a lot more speed or higher elemnetal (imo not entirely worth it, but its up to you).
Heres how I got mine enhanced:
The weaponsmith uses the same system I use in crafting (max out on SAC, then Speed on components...Max out on damage then Speed on weapon...use an advanced stock for SAC). Basically, she maxed out the damage and then put the remaining points to speed, resulting in:
2.84 spd
1112 dmg
90 elemental
100 SAC
I further sliced this to within 8 points of the damage cap, and somewhere around 2.72. Will be putting a critical strike slice on it, since those are working now as well
Also, to take a look at how your weapon may come out using this...just add the max damage of an unenhanced version of your weaponsmith's existing stock, and add the damage from the enhancer, which in this case was 157 dmg...hence the unenhanced weapon was around 955 max damage (so yes, those damages are pretty good as this comes from one of the oldest launch weaponsmiths on Chilastra
)
To make an enhanced PFT, you will require 5 identical krayt tissues (1 for schematic, 4 for the weapon)

oh hey.. was worried heh. I'd tried making a PFT unehnaced and it turned out with 960max, 103 SAC, 99 elemental, 2.9x spd unsliced.
Glad to know i'm getting reasonable stats at least. (I can likely do alot better now since I've got better resources for powerhandlers now. Wee..)
Though I'm still not sure why elemental came out at 99 when I didnt drop anything into it. O.o
I'm still waiting for the day I can get 5 of those BH powercells so I can make a totally evil PFT.

So where do you get your PFT's at StarNick? I really need a new one.

very nice
I don't ever use the flamethrower anymore. I just can never find a reason to use it when the proton rifle and acid launcher are more than sufficient.

That flamer you got kicks any Proton Rifle's behind if you ignore the 25m range. Plus it burns
