Thread: Best weapon for AOE love?
The Rocket Launcher does not actually have AoE, so it's not going to work for what you want.
I favor the lightning beam cannon for area state effects. I'm M.Pistols and some Smuggler, and using Stopping Shot (root)andConcussion Shot (mez) with the LBC against multiple opponents at once is a big part of what I do in combat.
Since the LBC is a rifle, it also works with ranged arms if you have them, which gives it 50m range if you have both the +5 and the +10. I have a Proton Rifle that does AoE damage as well (I guess the newly dropped ones do not have AoE anymore) which works pretty well also since its max range is 65 which puts me at 80m doing area state effects. Conversely, the PFT is a special heavy weapon and does not work with ranged arms, which leaves its range at 25m.
I havent found any specials that dont work in AoE with commando weapons, at least not in the specials that I have. I've even used Firearm Strike against a group and KDd them all.
