Thread: AP on Rockets also broken?

Hello everyone,

this is my first post to this forum, but I've read it for 10 months now. Like many of you I'm also worried about the current state of the commando profession.

The other day I did some tests with the heavy weapons dueling a friend. I always found the damageI do on other players with my heavy weapons is much too low consideredthe AP relation between a rocket (ap3)and a players armor(ap1).Even if the player has no armor I dont get any bonus on the damage I do with a heavy weapon. Thats ridiculus. On the other hand the AP seems to work if you attacka high AP target like an AT-ST. You dont get any subtractions on the damage when you fight an AP3 target with an AP3 weapon. Can you confirm this experience? And do the Devs know about this? Wasn't this issue supposed to be fixed patches ago?

If theyfixed the AP calculation on targets with lower AP, heavy weapons would become much more useful in pvp.

Greetings

As far as I've always been able to tell our weapons actually work best against armored targets... if you hit an unarmed target (all vulnerabilities) your AP gets reduced to 0, otherwise, which is why RLs seem to do decent, but not amazing damage to an AT-ST. Same thing applies with swordsmans PH (I tested it on 2 nightsisters). One had 10% blast, other was blast vulnerable. Same attack on both targets ended up doing more damage to the one with 10% resistance. Maybe the one thing that would make commando viable is to give all AT-ST etc. 1% blast resistance

This weekend I noticed some weird things with our RL's AP as well...I fought against medium and no armor targets and did pretty much the exact same max damage to both...no AP damage formula applied...

I have brought it up to the Devs...If anyone out there wants to help test this I'd really appreciate it...please post your results with the following info:

  • Rocket Launcher Max Damage capability

  • Actual Damage done to target

  • Target's Armor level

  • Did the target have any Blast Damage resists/vunerability and if so, what degree?

This type of testing would help my case with the Devs.

Thanks...

In case you didnt know this is how it works. There are detailed threads about it on other professions forums including the armorsmith forum.

As you all probably know every Ap that you have higher than your targets ARMOR gives you 1.25x damage. However if the target has a vulnerability to that armortype the game thinks it as if the target had no armor at all and the bonus damage from AP is NOT calculated. What makes this really buggy is of course that if you shoot with an AP3 weapon such as the Rocket Launcher on a target with AR1 and 25% resist to blast you will do "weapondamage"*1.25*1.25*0.75 = weapondamge*1.17 BUT if you fire at an unarmored target you will not do AP damge and end up will only "Weapondamage"

Yep..thanks for the information...already knew that and chose targets without Blast vunerability or Heat vunerability...not matter the target, the FT out damaged the Rocket Launcher...in fact, the average damage I was inflicting on any of my targets was roughly the same no matter their Armor level (again no Blast vunerabilities)...The AP forumula doesn't appear (at least in my test on TC) to be calculating for the Rocket Launcer which may mean it is a bug...

Something else I've noticed recently, that only happens when using the RL on lairs - it hits them for only around 400 damage per shot, which is rather odd considering the minimum damage on mine is 2k+.

I recently used my rocket launcher to take down an AT-ST while my friend played "tank". I needed 17!!! rockets to take it down, probably more, if my friend was not a swordsman with powerhammer. The damage the rockets made was between 2000 and 6000. As far as I know, there applies no multiplier when using a heavy weapon. The rocket Launcher has nominal damage between 2000-3700. Why did the rockets more damage than they should do? Btw. I think the damage is still much to low. A rocket should do about 6000 to 12000 to a blast vulnerable target, otherwise its not really worth its price.

Normal shots do about 1.5x what the damage is in the examine window, if I'm not mistaken, so that would explain that.
