Thread: The death of all land professions

The IGN interview has got me really excited about the space expansion but I now am wondering ifwhen it comes out if SWG should be called" Star Wars Galaxies a Game Divided." The interview said that the SE would be simular to X-Wing vs TIE Fighter online which was a great game. But here lies the problem when I think back to my teenage years I spent about one tenth the time playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter then I did playing SWG and I had about ten times more fun playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter then SWG. So if the SE is as great as the Devs say it will be [like that ever happens] then I think that just about everyone will drop their land based profession and take to the skies. I have been a master commando for 3 months now and I see no reason to stay one when their is an improved X-Wing vs TIE Fighteronline coming soon. What do you think of this?

Actually in my opinion, the flying skills should use a different skill point pool from the other skills.

I know you can multiclass but my point why stay as a land profession when all the fun is up in the air? I am basing my info off the orginal X-Wing vs TIE Fightergame on how fun it is I have no idea if it will be fun or not. I am not trying to say that land profession are no fun because somtimes they are. I am just saying thatthe orginal X-Wing vs TIE Fighterwas loads of fun and if its the same or better then it was then SWG land professions are in trouble.

"when all the fun is up in the air?"

We don't know that yet, we'll have to wait and see.

you will still need land professions to make money to keep your ships in good repair, and upgrade them

From what I understand, they will.

So be on alert for a fighter ace commando when the SE comes out.

yeah they're gonna have piloting skills not as a full fledged class..but something that can be tacked on...at any rate its not how skills work atm...

also...remember...after SE or a bit before..we're going to most likely see more player vehicles..combat orientated..most likely using the SE engine (quite obviously a ship doesnt blow up when its destroyed...so thats prolly how the combat land vechs will be)

Dont believe that the land part of swg will be exactly the same when SE comes out...

if we are lucky SE will give ground combat a needed boost.

commando mission: Regroup with a commando team around orbit of Lok there you will find imp station than you will sneak aboard and demo reactor.

its not like imps would allow rebels to dock at a station but a new skill for commando would be a "sneak" skill that would allow you to hop aboard a station and do whatever.

playing x-wing vs tie fighter felt .... primitive... I dont mean that graphicly, but from a technical standpoit of view. For a game that had you use a joy stick, i think the flight controls were rather crude. I realy hope you can fly in space expansion like you can in BF1942 w/ out worring about gravity.

from what i read there are gonna be skill pts to use in the SE only professions. So no need to drop your combat/crafting professions.

so EVERYONE will be a some pilot?

I hope you have to use skill points to get decent pilot abilites. Or something.

It will be just as lame to have some mastor tailor and master chef be the most feared pilot imo. Just as lame as the SE expanions name...

They're giving a second SP pool for SE professions or something. There's a few, though. What's wrong with a Master Tailor/Chef/Space Ace anyway? Why can't a man be good with a whisk, a needle and a TIE fighter?
