nah Master commando with smuggler slicing to hike up the mission payouts

Why work on pistol skills (either pistoleer or smuggler) when you have a big flamer to incinerate everything.

That's my template. I like it. Low Blow then Flamesingle 2 is a really nice combo. Plus the slicing, spice crafting, and FP selling gives you a lot more to do with your toon than burn stuff all the time. I went Pistoleer 0003 for the melee defense and accuracy mods but mainly it was just cause I already had the combat xp saved up and didn't feel like having to get more pistols xp.

It's not some uber, own everything kind of template but it does give your character a lot more depth. If you want a template that's fully combat oriented then go Master Pistoleer/Commando, smuggler 0030. That'll give you low blow which is a VERY nice special and you'll have some very nice specials and defenses from Pistoleer. But to be honest if you want a full combat oriented template there are ones out there that are a lot better than that. I'm guessing you're wanting to give your character a lot more depth and flavor but not wanting to totally gimp your fighting abilities. And from my experience Master Commando/Smuggler is a fairly fun combination of professions.

Master Commando/Master Smuggler with no pistoleer insures that you will decimate novice entertainers with your pistol IV speed and accuracy with the launcher pistol in PvP. PVE, it is not a bad mix... good money/FP and feign death when you start to go down.

For PvP, Master Commando/Pistoleer will fare much better. If you wanna really use a pistol and dabble in a strange template...BPS IV (BH) + Flame Spec IV + Pistol Tech IV + Pistol Stances I = Sickening Fan Shot with a launcher pistol...or torso shot, or eyeshot. Not to mention Flamesingle II, Good posture defense, and ranged mit II. I enjoyed it, but wanted to master commando again so had to drop it.

BH/Commando/Pistoleer +115 pistol Acc and +91 Speed

Master Commando/Master Pistoleer +105 Acc +71 Speed

Master Commando/Master Smuggler +60 Acc and +30 Speed

*Edit* Who knows though if Smuggler may see some pistol skill mods added in their revamp that is forthcoming to help make their specials more effective without needing to take pistoleer to hit someone in PvP.

Im master commando, and soon to be master smuggler.

I really like it. I think this is key. Do what you like. I like the fact that I can slice, make spice, buy FP, buy factional things at a 25% reduction, etc. It noce to be able to do OTHER things with your combat character, besides combat.

With the points I have left I got pistoleer 0/0/0/3 for accuracy and a second knockdown. In smuggler you get a knockdwon for 2 legged things (low blow), in pistoleer you get a knockdwon for4 legged things (pistol melee defense 1).

Also, in dirty fighting IV you get (forgot the name) which gives you a devastating blow to your opponent. If you use this with your launcher pistol, OUCH!!!

Anyway,I like it, and I am banking on the upcoming smuggler revamp to add some nice things to the profession. New spices (to compete with chef foods) have been discussed, and another bonus to slicing at master.

This is so true. Do what you like. Having the best template does not mean you will have fun with your character.

A friend of mine is a master master commando/master carbineer just because he feels it fits a commando more than any of the other combat classes that can support it. His phrase to me when I asked him why was, "What kinda commando would I be without an assault rifle? I just like feeling more like a commando being able to launch a rocket that might hit that rebel's bike, then miss him with grenade to break out a carb to try and put on a good show before dying to his armor and trying my last ditch flame burn to leave a mark he can meditate away".

Wish I had a screen shot of this quote... it is so true for a lot of classes from the heavy weapons expert.. the commando that lacks any AP rated useful weapons in non turret combat, to the carbineer that is supposed to fill the midrange "machine gunner" style being dwarfed in speed comparison to a rifleman... the sniper of the game. The smuggler is just as accurate and fast with his pistol as any novice marksman that has attained the allmighty Pistols IV....

Sorry for the wrant, but that quote I just remebered from the other night and fits the ideal of do what is fun. There are a good number of profs that are all borked on their role and so many changes to come... until these changes come along, and hopefully things will start to truely make sense... do what you will enjoy and what you feel you will want to help make better.

My time as a smuggler I enjoyed with all the other aspects of it... not the combat aspect until I picked up pistoleer to make its specials more viable in more situations. Little extra cash never hurt anyone either Good luck on choosing your prof that will help your experience.

Master Commando/Master Smuggler with plans to go up to meditate 3. It is bloody great slicing terms on Dant getting 40k missions in a large solo group.
