Thread: Test Center Patch Notes Discussion Thread

With a lot of focus lately on improving overall game play by fixing things here and there (not really Combat since that will be the focus of the CU) the devs would like feedback (both positive and negative) regarding the changes lately and going forward. With that, I am starting a thread to collect feedback on TC Notes. Please feel free to offer feedback or further suggestions for things you'd like to see (Commando or even Non-Commando related).

Please discuss them here and if possible, please keep it civil (since the Devs will likely be reading this thread often...they asked me to post it). You can focus your replies on how these changes may or may not effect your game play as a Commando or Overall in game, or make requests for changes/tweaks/additions/etc for other little "no-brainers" you'd like to see changed in game. Again, specific combat related issues are pretty much slated to be addressed with the CU.

Some of the points I find most interesting are:


-Politician spends ZERO skill points now
-Shuttle and Spaceport wait times reduced to 1 minute.
-GCW changes
-Structure condemnation
=Mon Cal can buy from Imp recruiter


Personally I like most of these changes, but not quite sure I like the structure condemnation thing. It seems like we will continue to see structures sitting there for years after people have left the game (maybe there is a check to not allow this to happen, not sure).


I don't think I understand the "Mon Cal can buy from Imp recruiter". So a Rebel Mon Cal can buy an AT-ST? And other faction stuff?


I am not a politician, but I like the fact that they can get all those skill points back to spend them elsewhere.


I like the shuttle/space port time decrease. I don't like waiting, so for me this is nice. Besides, with JTL, a wait time at spaceports just doesn't seem right.


I applaud and am glad that there are changes being made to the GCW. I like that it is more of a challenge to take down a trooper, and not like killing durnies. I like that it is becoming a bit more "Star Warsy".

don't see much that'll bug me too much, except for maybe increased firepower on the imps that are part of the crackdown, unless that only encompases the imps that wander around in those starter cities

It certainly is one of the most ambitious patches in a while....Personally, I am excited about alot of it, but I'll give an opinion one way or another on every fix:









Test Center Only
Version 0.109759


Artisan



  • Crafting an All Purpose Ship Repair Kit will now use artisan experimentation instead of shipwright experimentation. - I am assuming that previously, this was an Artisan made item, that was erroneously coded to use SW experimentation? If so....Nice fix.

Combat



  • Fixed a problem where warcry would stack multiple times. - Perhaps the best fix of the entire patch. Players were getting hammered by this (especially Jedi). Removes some potential for griefing.

Crafting



  • Allowed survey/sampling while on mounts - Eh...Well...Surveying while on a mount, I tend to say maybe, leaning towards yes....Sampling? No. Should be required to be off mount, from a purely immersion point of view. Granted, its a helluva time saver...

Dancers / Musicians



  • We now allow a dancer/musician buff simultaneously - Great change. Knocks 5 minutes or more off your prep time for battle.

Entertainer



  • Entertainer mission payouts have been substantially increased. A very good thing...Ents sorely needed a way of income....

GCW



  • Imperial crackdown presence has had their firepower DRAMATICALLY increased - GOOD. Tired of seeing Stormies being obliterated in Star Ports....The galaxy is supposedly under Empire control. It should damn well feel like it.
  • Fixed faction base vulnerability bug - AWESOME. The GCW picking up again would be a great thing

Jedi



  • Force Meditate now clears on all server transitions and login - Any true exploit being fixed is a good thing. I always chuckle when I see Jedi I have on my friendslist go offline, then immediately come back online. Multiple times.

Loot



  • Exceptional quality weapons will no longer drop with unlimited DOT charges. Define exceptional. Average DoT'd weapons were dropping -1 uses. PLEASE LOOK AT THE LOOT TABLES FOR HIGH END CONTENT!!!! I KILLED 25 DARK JEDI KNIGHTS OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS AND HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. 15 ELDERS GONE, AND NOTHING BUT CREDITS. It is simply not worth the drain in condition on my weapons and armor to hunt high end stuff if I am going to loot two heavy duty clasps from an NPC that has 320K HAM and 90 percent resists to everything, that takes me an hour to kill.

Missions



  • The prison ship in the rebel tier 4 recovery duty "Rescue prisoners from the Empire" will no longer exit the Dathomir region early. -Had heard this was a source of pain for quite a few pilots...Good fix,...
  • Fixed a bug that prevented space missions from failing if you left the mission zone prematurely. - OK. Thats good, I guess? LOL

New Players



  • Newly created players who start in Kaadara, Naboo will no longer float 200m above the ground for 20 seconds - A minor annoyance, but good fix nonetheless....

PlayerStructures



  • All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs. - BAD IDEA, here's why: There are FAR too many structures and cities that are doting the landscapes. If the player is not conscious enough to maintain their structures, then they deserve to lose it. It makes one more aspect of the game idiot proof. There are too many empty cities, unused houses that plague the planets. If they lose it. Tough. If they cancel their account, then come back 3 months later, and their house is gone. Tough. In 80 percent of the cases, a house disappearing is not a bad thing.

Politician



  • Politician skill boxes will no longer require skill points to train. A truly wonderful thing....In the grand scheme of the player base, it wont affect that many people. However, it allows the Mayors of cities the abilities to further develop their toon in either the ent/fighting/crafting area than previously allowed.

Quests



  • Players will only be allowed 350 quests in their quests list. - A little clarification here would be nice....Does this mean that only 350 quests will show up on their list? Or are they limited to 350 quests (i.e. you do your 350th quest, cant do another one)

Server Stability



  • Fixed some issues that were causing server crashes - As many fixes as servers have gotten (improved server stability, improved client stability), these things ought to be the paradigm of stability.

Ships



  • Complete revamp of interior ship alarms. They should turn off now. You must redeed existing ships to completely correct the issue - COOL
  • The target status window updates properly for gunners. - VERY NIFTY
  • Weapon capacitor overcharge should charge the space ship weapons beyond 100% and increase charge rate - NICE!

Space



  • Star Destroyer now grants experience equivalent to Rebel Spacestation in Deep Space - Good for Rebels, bad for Imperials

Spawns / POI



  • Krayt Dragon Population boom! - YEAAAAAAAH!!!!!! Now, as long as the loot drops are fixed......
  • Decreased spawn times for some POI’s - WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! Now, as long as the loot drops are fixed
  • Decreased spawn times for Dathomir Spider Cave - YIPPEEE!!!! Now, as long as the loot drops are fixed!!!
  • Spawn System Refinements - GO SOE!! GO SOE!!! ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!! ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!! Now, as long as the loot drops are fixed!!!

Species



  • Mon Calamari now able to spend faction points to buy items from Imperial recruiter. - Good for the fishies....

Travel



  • Added X31 (not a typo)landspeeder to all newbie starting equipment. This new speeder looks identical to the X34 but goes 10% slower. - Making it too easy on the noobs........
  • Decreased starport wait time to 60 seconds - Thanks for making my 120 dollar investment in JTL completely worthless....BAD IDEA...This was the main reason many players got JTL. With this "fix", you have completely nullified the biggest selling pointof JTL. Make it happen for SHUTTLEPORTS, but keep STARPORTS at 5 minutes
  • Fixed an issue where spawns were not being generated when in a speeder - UBER FIX!!!!

UI



  • Reticle optimization - I'll take your word for it....
  • Tweaked space controls backend - Same
  • Fixed display of faction rank for character with no rank affiliation - Huh?

Vendors



  • Fixed an issue with vendors where you had less then the maximum amount but you couldn’t place a vendor - Good, I guess...I dont use vendors to sell anything....
  • Player and vendor must be in the same building for the player to be allowed to initialize the vendor. - Narfty

The most recent update (today/this morning) includes changing the Maintaince cycles from 30 mins to 2 mins....hopefully we won't be seeing 5-15k daily maintaince rates...


Or since they backed up and mothballed TC in preparation for Blue Frogs to hardcore test the next publish...this is only to test out the new condemned buildings things...


Hopefully this is the case...


Otherwise the last 3 days' updates have been WONDERFUL!

Like most of the updates highlight for me is the 60sec starport wait. bad think is i cant sing "wasting time here in margaritaville" (i no its not a correect quote but it worked for the situation).


My consern for future updates are the loot drop problems. When i first started I kept hearing about people looting and getting credits from NPC. Yet i would only get even credits 1 out of 4 times, didn't know I was bugged from a lag problem. Now i hear if an NPC dies from you DOT Damage you loose the loot. A lot of the higher end NPC I kill die of the flame DOT so i guess thats why I never get the uber loot I keep hearing about. Took on a static spawn of a dark apprentece Jedi and after 4 or 5 time of getting no loot moved on. I'ld like to know if I'm still bugged or just the most unlucky player there is. I've yet to loot anythiong off a Night sister or Jedi anything. Only Uber loot i've evergotten, isoff Sith Thugs while in a group at the Village.

I like the krayt spawn thing. I'm going to guess that they also drasticaly upped the drop rate for perls though.

Yea well, that little problem of pearls is killing the economy and players.
