Since I am in such an informative mood today.....I decided I would post a bit more info that will help the New Commando's or those who would like to know more about the all powerfull DoT! (Damage over Time)
The DoT is the Master Commando's more Potent weapon. For High lvl NPC's the DoT is the "money shot"
To Land a good DoT is near an Artform. This is how you land a DoT. Flame2,Flame1,Flamecone2,Flamecone1. There you have it. Only one Commando can stack a DoT on a single NPC. Typically one Master Commando is all you need. Now, you can land a full stack as quick as possible or a quicker death of the NPC's....or you can land a Mega DoT. The only difference is the amount of damage you do in the hit's you land. A certain percentage of the damage done in a single hit is what determine's the DoT tick. If you have someone to tank it for you take your time. There will be a noticable difference between a speed applied DoT and a DoT from a High Damage FT, roughly 5k DoT difference with a full stack per Tick. DoT killing will work on Krayts,SBD,Death Watch NPC's (perferably go TKA though), Gorax, and AT-ST's. **keep in mind you will be taking quite a bit of damage when stacking the DoTs**
-Food for thought- Unless you have exeptional defences......which is not possible with Master Commando Template....you wont be able to dabble enough for the extra defenses.....there are most deffinatly some NPC's that you will not want to solo EVER with yourFT equiped the whole time. Expect to switch to a weapon that give's you better defenses.....or no weapon if you are a TKM.
**and to better prepare you, always have two FT's with you, One with low speed, One with High damage**
Edit-forgot to add how to always hit with a Flamecone.
*The Art of the Flamecone*
When running at the target and it is not aggro'd at you this is what you must do. It's very simple. Target the one in the middle or which ever one has the most NPC's around it. /attack, run, all of the rest will aggro on you. Thus making them suseptable to the damage you will now inflict upon all of them in-mass. Previously if you had been Flameconning first you would just land a DoT and not do any damage, now you will do the damage and the fight will end quickly. You can even land half of a Full Stack DoT on them if you can hit with your other Flamecone attack.

On the defenses: I'm going for an uber commando (both pve and pvp) on a second char.
I decided on:
M Commando
TK 4310 (also possible 4400, 0404)
Pistoleer 0040
medic 0030
KD defense +75
post down defense +50
dizzy +45
stun +55
blind +50
melee defense +34
ranged defense +47
Ranged Mit III melee Mit II
43 unarmed thoughness
cob +60 18 seconds duration
add another +10 to dizzy and stun cause I'm zab, then +4 melee +17 vs stun from Be clothing and you already have very nice defenses
I choose for the above because I had pvp more in mind (I wanted to have unarmed dizzy and the meditation tree)
The other options:
TK 4400
you can grab one more box in medic with this..biggest differend: KD2 and 47 thoughness
TK 0404 = PVE build
one more box medic, no mediation tree
all defenses same except:
melee defense +94
ranged defense +92
unarmed thoughness +57
COB +95 25 seconds duration
for NS I'm going to wear bleeding defense clothing iso melee/stun defense
also having custom made thak (only need +25) and I'm looking for dizzy tapes as Zabrak I have +55 vs dizzy, plus ithorian mist it's +77 which means if hell freezes over and I manage to get +23 in dizzy tapes I will be impossible to KD or dizzy

The only way I'd drop TKM is if I found some way to get 100 (well, I could settle for 93, as I have a +7 belt) Def V Dizzy. The wound healing in the wild is great, and you have no idea how many time the extra 550 from powerboost has saved my ass. plus let's not forget the not getting damaged worse than half a buff agenst 20 gurks or 25 gient baz nitchs (have done it, full armor of course, only 80% though, and I tanked two lairs, about 25 gient bazs at one point, all by my self. that made my day.) plus the damage output of TKA isn't bad once stacked up with our dots, which brings me back on-topic, Great Guide!

I only used UH3 to blind when I was TKM (ehm in pvp of course) but both in pve and pvp I'm going to rely on commando for the damage.
MY aim was to have a commando which doesn't die in 5 seconds when jedi are involved...with this template I probably won't kill jedi, but I can do crowd control, keep em on the floor and spam dizzy

Do you use a macro for the DOT stacking?
Bad idea even for master commandoes on acc food, you will probably miss 1-2 times, you have o watch your combat spam, and make sure it hits, before moving on to next.

I have melee mitigation II....which is more than I had last time as commando
and I NEVER use macro's...Well I have a few:
Cob macro
my pistoleers anti-doc macro (which consisted out of 2 intimidates and three last ditches...wrote it after I kept running into doc types who healed intimidates all the time)
/stand /healdamage self
that's it
just one more thing: you can colorcode and apparently enable system messages so you get a red system message for every miss...have to ask my mate to do this as it'll be a great help for spotting misses

M Commando
TK 4310 (also possible 4400, 0404)
Pistoleer 0040
medic 0030
Only problem with this is the lack of melee damage mitigation. Youve chosen a template which needs you to be up close and personal. You will get your ass handed to you by master melee proffessions (before you stacked dots kill them anyway)

mcommando,
tka 4004, works well for me.
i have 1 macro
/kneel;
/aim;
/flamesingle2;
/aim
etc
for all four. i never miss due to the increaed accuracy from aim and kneeling.
(and a little force enhanced aiming)
this even works well for pvp as it guarentees all 4 dots stick with good damage. this works very well against other commandos who dont kneel/aim.
this macro is great for stacking up all 4 dots from 1 flamethrower.

two things with that, it will take you twice as long to stack the dots as somone who can stack them without aiming, as /aim takes up one "attack" roll, and two, I find I get PcDed far easyer when I'm kneeling then when I'm standing. I don't know if ths is intentional or not. However in PvE I guess this would work well.

doesnt take twice as long because we dont do specials at the speed cap; /aim takes 1 second. my specials take a little over 2.5.
