Thread: Good Idea, preventing pointless(endless) PvP.
I saw this idea in another post on here, and I decided i liked it so much I would start a new thread so people would see it. Kudos to Vallimar.
Vallimar says:
"If they created a time-out period in which after death one cannot participate in PvP again regardless of wounds, then there really wouldn't be a point to griefing, seeing as a simple DB would remove the player from action for awhile, with or without wounds. "
This is the best Idea I've seen on any of these forums in a long time. It makes it so that your LIFE is actually worth something in PvP, and, even if you're cloned nearby, 1 DB and you get to watch for the rest of the battle. This will improve team dynamics, by requiring that groups that want to win keep their members alive, and will, imo, make the game much more interesting when it comes to group PvP tactics. Say a time limit equal to the amount of time for TEFs to go away.
This would also go a long way towards solving one of the more annoying cheese/exploits I've run into: the combat medic TEF AOE poisons. He can poison til he dies, still, but now he cant just spam it until everyone in the city he is terrorizing decides the game isn't fun and logs, because no matter how many times you kill him, hes right there poisoning you again.

I don't like that idea, this game has too much downtime built in already.
I think there should be a choice upon leaving a cloning facility whether a player wants to go overt or not and just do away with the tef.
This idea has already been implemented, it's called a "corpse". The problem is: for some reason the DEVs decided to take this feature out of the game, thereby ruining many of the finerbalancingpoints of PVP and PVE.
The game has no real direction that I can see with regard to PVP. It seems like every new patch goes a different way and old thoughts like corpses are left behind. Who knows when one day we might log in and see that rule in effect again? PVP just hasn't been figured out yet. I think that in the beginning it might have made sense, but right now its pretty haphazard and difficult to understand.
The worst thing IMO is the hidden TEF. Suddenly you can become vulnerable to PVP and not even know it! That is just completely stupid! One should at least be warned that they are killable. Maybe some sort of icon next to your HAM that shows you have a TEF would help.
Restricting players from participateing in a fight once they have died is a viable solution to the current problems, though that's not to say there arent other alternatives or options that would mix well with the Temponary Ban from fights.
One of the flaws with the issue of Temponary Ban is that you will have some players whom wont follow a set of rules and still try to mess it up for the rest that does chose to follow the player made rules. And without an abillity to hunt your own side it's difficult to enforce the rules.
