I did them one at the time.If you get into trouble while getting XP, you can always switch over to your more powerful weapon. Rifles and unarmed kind of sucked, but the other stuff is fun. Get a high speed VK, and some good starter weapons.
Finally, I thought it was helpful to get some pistoleer skills (0001) before starting commando. This lets you use healthshot 2 and pistol whip with the launcher pistol. The LP gives you heavy weapons XP, which counts towards your flamethrower.

I went up one tree at a time. Went up pistol (long time ago), then decided on unarmed, so went up that entire tree, then took carbine, went up that tree, and then finally rifles. The order isn't important, just take one tree and climb it to the top, then take the next tree.

Want the time to SEEM to go by fast? Do the lines in this order-
- Unarmed
- Rifle
- Carbine
- Pistol
Brawler Unarmed is torture and Marksman Rifle is close behind it. You can grind most of this running around Mos Entha killing noob spawns. It seems to take awhile but you get steady xp with almost no risk at all.

I already have Unarmed 3, Pistols 4, Rifles1 and Carbines 2. I plan on mastering pistoleer in my template, so I'm primarily going up that. I was going to do it sort of systematically, but that didn't really happen. I was going to go up unarmed first to get it out of the way, but then I got sick of it, so I started other stuff.

What's the best way to Master Marksman and Unarmed? Is it better to go up one line at a time, or go up all of them sort of evenly, or something in between? How is it in terms of speed? boredom? ease?

You may want to try using unarmed while doing the others... blast 'em with a bleed and threaten shot, then if they get close switch to unarmed. Makes the unarmed MUCH less painful. I'm doing it that way on test atm and its working well. But, way back I did em one at a time, with unarmed last.
