Hey everyone, wassup? Was up thinking of ways to make commando better and stumbled across this idea. What if there was a storm trooper class? Commando could be a pre requisite much the same way brawler is to teras kasi. Storm trooper could have four trees.
1- Weapons Orientation : this tree would give you access to new more powerful weapons and their specials. At the base of this tree maybe a small arms particle projection canon all the way up to the turrents used by the boarding parties in the various movies.
2-Armor Orientation : this tree would certify u in the different armors. At the base of this skill tree we're talking about scout troopers armor certification all the way up to the heavy armor used in"empire strikes back".This armor could only be worn by storm troopers.
3- Defensive postures : would increase the melee and ranged defenses to the class.
4- Military vehicles training : would allow for the piloting of at st's and at at's.
I know all the rebels of the world are crying so obviously there would be an imperial commando (above) and a republic commando (since im imperial let the rebels do their adaptations themselves, lol).
In any case at least this brings up some obvious flaws in the commando class. What's the point of being a commando if everyone else can wear the heavy armors? Why fear a commandos flame thrower if any teras kasi master can hit for 1000pts of damage every 1.5 seconds as oppossed to getting flamed for 1000pts every 5.4 seconds? This should be an elite class that is feared and respected by all but jedi's as it is in the movies. please chime in some feedback or any rumors about a revamp u might have heard.

Actually, I had the same idea when i was playing around with my faction classes idea. Give commando to rebels only, BH to neutrals only, and give imps a type of stormtrooper commando thing, so u dont have players bitching about having to wear white armor all day. they can have that cool shoulder cannon that the DTs used in the Dark Forces games. Electrical damage that competes with the flamethrower.

Or like,
Looking Silly
Taking hits for more important characters with actual names
Looking Silly
Taking hits for more important characters with actual names
Surviving longer than characters with 0 armor
Having terrible aim...
Nah, I'm only trolling, i think its a good idea... and the same could go for rebel troopers maybe? Maybe for an expansion they'll make double-elite classes.

Perhaps a profession that only is available to factionally aligned players so that skills can be paid for with faction points?

see that's exactly what im talking about! Everyone who's commando bit.........gripes about the class with good reason. What's the purpose of being the ultimate soldier when im waiting for a doctor to remove his composite so he can buff me? Maybe for the next publish we could allow all classes to use flamethrowers! Might as well seeing as how this class has become a total after thought. What sucks the most is that it's a total slap in the face when you spend this many skill points to be a commando and are constantly playing behind tka's, fencer's, etc when it comes time to battle. That's so weak. We should be the guys leading assaults, taking out turrent with gatling guns, running through fire to accomplish the mission! Instead we're getting knocked down by smugglers and kicked to death by guys weilding cdef pistols. This is sad. Especially considering a troopers popularity. Outside of jedi and bounty hunter, of course. The class seperation idea is cool except for the bounty hunter.......not sure it would work. Still a storm trooper, rebel guardian, and mercenary could fit the bill. Each recieving faction benefits. A storm trooper gets 5 to 10% resistances to all rebel attacks as would a rebel commando when attacked by an imperial. Mercenaries could reciev up to 5% by both classes.......less resistance but wider range. Also the heavy armors should be used only by the heavy troopers. This can stop the out of control usage of composite. If you want to wear it, it would cost going up the tree that certifies you in armor. Thus costing valuable skill points!!! Welcome to our world!
