Thread: A Strong Arguement to get something changed drastically...

First, as we all know by now...the 5 second weapon delay simply sucks.


But, in some weird cosmic strange sense of way...it does work in our favor...why? Because it shows exactly what we need in our profession.


For ages upon ages, Ive heard soooo many times (in fact soo many times my ears bleed when I hear it) that we should use our pre-reqs to support commando, and to stop whining etc.


Well....this 5 second delay totally kills that, especially for the commandos who have TKA KD or Pistoleer KD. Granted those are not pre-reqs, but are very important as we dont have a KD whatsoever (speaking of KDs, I saw a post by Tanks about this...and laughed my pants off when I read that every profession got a boost in KD defense...strangely, the devs forgot about us!).


Not only is KD important, but also get this: We have a very useful special in marksman..Full Auto Single 1...it can Stun/blind/Dizzy and opponent..the latter one, the dizzy sometimes can take a bit to stick and it also doesnt usually stick for long...which means we have to KD the opponent quick and then Flame em.


With the weapon delay, this just isnt possible. And thusly, destroys our ability to use all but the Pistol (the LP) pre-reqs...but even then, most commandos dont use that as a primary weapon unless if they Pistoleer skills (like me).


Also..this delay also considers totally unarmed (no VKs) a weapon, plus still has some sort of delay when theres no action taking place (eg a special)....not to mention, Ive been noticing that the delays are a bit off sometimes....a few times it seems shorter than 5 seconds, others much longer...


Anyways, the point of this post....because of the weapon delay now commando is isolated pretty much from using useful non-commando specials and tactics which many times were keeping the profession alive...other professions may consider this whining, but it isnt. A pistoleer generally has to worry about 1 weapon, TKA 1 weapon, Carbineer 1 weapon, everyone else 1 weapon save us and BH (BH to a lesser degree however). Commandos are constantly switching weapons, as we can die very quickly just using 1.


And similar to some dungeons...this is a strong arguement in our favor (also 1 of those I told you So's I guess)....a huge arguement to put in Melee specials for our weapons (aka Riflebutt attacks)...and state effects among other things. Most of us rely heavily on other professions and pre-reqs for these...now we must either rely on those in our profession, or just switch commando to a secondary role (which ive been hearing as of late now). Being told to wait still, that this will be addressed in CB is not enough...as for the next 6-12 weeks while we wait...Commando will be partially crippled...

I agree. Basically instead of me being a Master Commando with TKM, I am now a TKM with Master Commando. It is a sad state considering commando is supposed to be an elite hybrid profession. Most of the other professions do not understand that we cannot survive without support from professions like TKA and Pistoleer. It is a plain and simple fact to us and something we have come to deal with by taking up said professions. However, we are commandos at heart. We want to be able to stand on our own two feet without being forced to take a helping hand from another supposedly lower profession. (I say lower due to the massively less amount of skill points required) Like Starnick said we are completely isolated. I cannot afford to take beats for 8 seconds with my FT out. Plain and simple. I would love a response from the DEVs on this issue. I wonder if they have any idea what kind of impact this has on the commando community.


I remember TH saying a while ago that we are "as intended." I wonder if that still holds true.

Well said. You hit on the key points. I am a Master Commando/TKM. When I solo stuff I basically go TKM and keep a fire dot going, reason I go TKM is because of the Unarmed toughness. With this delay I have noticed that it now takes longer for the Unarmed toughness to go into effect. I feel fortunate in a way...at least I got TKM while MC is licking the boots of all the other professions. The basic complaints I hear is about is about how long it takes to put on armor. It's a viable complaint but dosent compare to what happens to us Commando's. Like StarNick said "we rely on a second profession to stay alive" we can no longer do that. But what all the gripping amounts to is this. If the Combat Revamp is crap then SWG is going to die. Everyone will leave. I love playing this game and I have met alot of great people, but the game just wont be worth playing anymore. I am sure there a more then a few people who feel the same way.
