Hello,
It's been a while since I have checked.. is there any updates time table for the revamp. It would be nice to use the whole profession instead of 1 branch.
Thanks,
Mondor.

Shorter than a year, but longer than a mini-publish.
That's all we have.

No, but it's the same generic answer they gave everyone.
The post is in the dev tracker.
It really does seem like they want to run as many people away from this game as they can before they actually attempt to fix anything.

That post was made by TH. Yes, they are running alot of people out. Just when you think it couldn't get worse, they go from non-communication re: the revampto making little comments that incite the community to near riot status.

Edit: Well, riot is alittle harsh but they shouldn't be ticking us off. We've got flamethrowers after all.

Well its less than a year and longer than a mini-publish for the cu so the commando revamp is less than the time it took to re-build the death star, but longer than a village phase.
That help?
That help?

If we had to nail TH on a date today I can guarentee you he'd take the real date for the CU launch to live and tack on 4 to 5 months at the very least...
If the devs tell us 6 months and it happens in 4 they look like heros...if the devs tell us 3 months and it takes 4 they get heavily flamed...
Recently (unfortunately) the devs have made it a point to no longer post timelines or dates...We Correspondents can't even get them to give us ideas anymore because they are scared it'll leak out or at the very lease, we Correspondents will flame them when they miss a date (yes, we do it too)...so they'd rather tell us answers like "look for it next month" or "after the holidays"...JTL was different because for marketing purposes they HAD TO have a launch date for those who were selling it...
That's why a lot of us are guessing big time on when the Sandbox Testing will start...most of us Correspondents chat a lot with the Programmers involved in the Sandbox...And the programmers have been very forthcoming with us on the CU forums about where they are...the Docs are so complete, especially with the recent postin go "numbers" in the profession specific docs, that it is testiment to just how close they are...now the big hold up is us Sandbox testers and Correspondents getting them to change those numbers, weapons and specials a little bit here and there before testing starts...the problem is if you change a number here, we have to look how it effects the numbers over there...
Personally, I'm comfortable with 99% of everything I've seen so far and want to see it start testing right away...we'll make all future needed changes ON the sandbox...there is a 1% issue that is bugging me, but the devs have assured me that once testing starts, my concerns will lesson on that issue...OR...if they don't lesson, they'll work on the 1% then...
So in otherwords, what's the hold up now? Blame it on us Sandbox folks...we are causing the delay currently with our fine tooth combing everything the devs post these days...if we kept our mouths shut, I'd bet we'd already be on the Sandbox...it's just that some things need to be addressed quickly now so we don't risk running out of time later for them to be addressed (as in, what if that 1% issue I have IS still an issue when the testing begins, but the Devs don't have time to fix it until after the CU...it would likely be delayed until after various other professions get revamps...it's a 1% issue, but it's something that may bother a lot of us and I want it fixed to suit our comfort level BEFORE the CU hits live)...

That sounds all good, but couldn't they give us a REAL projected date, and then explain that there could be delays in process, and then explain those delays and what they are doing to fix them? I mean, I'm not going to take my car to a mechanic, and have him tell me it could be fixed shorter than a year, but longer than 2 weeks and then not have any communication as to what is wrong with the car, what else needs to be fixed, etc... You going to pay your mechanic bill if it just says "parts - $510" Wouldn't you want to know what parts they used, and why?

heres the thing i dont get. TH is the community relations guy, right? he know how many people this is important to, and how many people hinge their decision to remain in SWG based on the combat balance release.
so..
Why give any kind of timeframe at all?
by setting a timeframe, even one as vague as that, he's motivated scores of people to leave the game. they know its no longer a month away, and thus, they see no reason to stay.
when he hadnt said anything, there was at least some hope for them. there was that feeling like: "Hey, i could log on tomarrow morning and the CU docs might be up!"
now, we know for sure they wont post for several months, so why stay?
they blame JTL, but it runs better than the ground game does. i spend all my time in space now!
the only thing i can think of is that they are intentionaly trying to destroy the game... which makes no sense.
I would love new content and all, but i would love to have a working profession first. then maybe i could enjoy the current game combat.

Well said nbd9k. i think you kind of nailed the whole thing on the head.
Nothing TH says now will end up with a bunch of roses. Anything he does say, with just end up with a bunch of flaims, either for "it will be too long away", or "you promised this date and now you delayed it for _______ issues"
There truely is no middle ground for TH or the devs. No matter what is said, the flames will happen. Why doesn't anyone but a few see that? I feel we all gone to the dark side but are still in denial.

Or he could just say nothing about dates and start talking about the CU itself. TH is quite capable of dodging timetables has been doing for a long time. he doesn't have to give a timetable to start releasing some ver basic and fundamnetal pieces to the CU so that we start getting a trickle of information. With the CU so expansive as we have been told and if 99% of whats in the docs is wonderful surely there are some items that are virtualy concrete and could be shared with the rest of us without the fear if those things needing changed. Surely thats true. Maybe just some proffession descriptions, maybe even some screenshots of new weapons or even some concept sketches just to give us a taste of what might be coming. Anything..... anything at all.
