Thread: Commando PVP suggestions
Hey guys,
I'm a retired BH looking to go Master Commando, I'm wondering first of all if there is a fighting chance in pvp with commando, yes, I've read a lot of the posts here and it doesn't look exactly like the Master Commandos are too happy with their speed and so on... but is it worth the neat weapons, damage, and DOT?
Next question:
What would a pvping commando wear for armor? What is good for %'s?
Last question:
If designed for pvp with good armor and Master Commando, what other skill should I pickup to "compliment" commando? Pistoleer?
Thanks for the suggestions

ok if ur going commando for PVP dont lol but if u have to heres how to do it
first u need comp armor and decint PSG
next u need a fats LP
then u need to get smuggler dirty fighting
must have that panick shot and kd to cech ur oponit and burn him
tka rang def and melee defs is a must
and pistolers trick shot line is a good thing to have all the time on any profesion
but ifyou really r just for pvp i say go bh/carb they have some awsome speed nasty kds+dizzys and some powerfull attacks
commando is not ment for pvp or pve lol

solo pve agreed, group pve = outstanding
for PvP smuggler is a must have to be most effective, but also get into the mentalitly ( For now ) that you are a Melee PC. Meaning dont run after kiter's try to get out of LoS and them come to you.
I wouldnt go LP for the pistol though, I would go Scout, or something else with low speed. Also make use of all your skills ( Mind Bleed with spraystick )
Get a good FT with low speed and get the speed sliced.
Keep the novice marksman tag overhead
and get doctor buffs when you can.
Currently I'm a Commando 0-4-4-0, Master Pistoleer, Smuggler 0-0-4-0. Which currently is a fairly effective build, next patch's defensive modifiers might change that a bit, but I like this for right now.
My main commando weapons are really the Heavy Support Weapons line like the Heavy Particle Beam Cannon, and Acid Stream Launcher. At HSW4 these weapons fire quickly and don't leave me nearly as vulnerable to reprisal attacks as the Flamethrower.
When I do use the flamethrower its usually in a team environment where I can engage others without being directly engaged.
I am happy overall with Commando Damage and Speed the Heavy Support Weapons offer Armor Piercing and very high single shot hits (vs Unarmored 800-1100 pvp). Flamethrower of course dishes out nice damage when used in a non-suicidal fashion.
Armor wise I stick with Advanced Composite, not the layered stuff as I am not always buffed, as well as fairly cheap PSGs. On my server Radiant Electrical around 70 and the rest around 59 I think is about average.
As for what to pick up, you can get the last 2 trees of Pistoleer for Fan Shot, and Speed, + Smuggler Dirty Fighting line for Ranged KD/Last Ditch/Panic Shot, and Medic First aid/diagnostics 2. Depending on how defenses pan out maybe think of picking up the last line of TKA first line of Fencer, maybe the first line of TKA for Powerboost.
I don't know about Block/Dodge/Defense Acuity but according to a test on the Pistoleer board, Ranged Defenses and I would guess Melee Defense can make a difference. Currently most defensive builds top out in the 80 range and really sacrifice alot to do it, after this next patch breaking 180 ranged 200 melee defense would not be out of the question and still be viable combatitively. compare this to most weapons capping out around the 100-130 accuracy mark and this could make a huge difference.
I like mine char for pvp, I would even say that commandos can still incapped in 1-2 shots (hbp/rl, even with protons I incapped a full compoed player).
IMHO the armor you should wear, should be a composite, we dont rely on specials beside dot and from time to time our rechargeable weapons, so the low regeneration should be ok (you could still use drugs, food & drinks to push up your reg.) I myself am using full compo set with 79% kinectic, 80% kinetic, rest depending of slice (helmet & chest is encum sliced) 68%-88%.

Does anyone know any good tactics as a Commando in pvp? I'm still trying to debate BH over Commando... BHs seem to say Commandos have the edge, and Commandos say BHs have the edge, lol. I knew that would work out that way, but they were able to give me some good tactics in a pvp environment... can anyone do that for me with Commando?
Thanks!

get some rocket launchers, if you are doing pvp against a ranged class that is gonna try and run around you out of range of your FT, first /takecover then just spam the RL usually only takes one or two shots to bring most pc down. and if they try to run in close just use your FT, rarely do i not incap other pc with one FT special.

64m: kneel and use a rocket launcher and pray that it hits. switch to the LP and use healthshot1, bodyshot2, bodyshot1. This gets at least one DOT (bleed) on them from a distance without the long wait time as the other HWs.
18m: plain and simply, flamesingle2, flamesingle1.
I am usually buffed, eat mind enhancing foods and use muon gold right before i enter into PvP. This helps protect against the Eye Shot spamming the BHs favor.
One thing I haven't tried is using Warcry in the 18m range. I know it's part of the unarmed tree, but I don't believe it's weapon specific. I could be wrong as I'm not at my home comp to verify and 18m may be out of range. If it is not weapon, that would be another distinct advantage prior to using the flame DOTs as it stuns the target for at least 10 seconds. This would be enough time to DOT them and then use burst run to retreat to a respectable distance and continue spamming them with the LP specials if they aren't already down.
Try as they might, with two DOTs on them attacking their health pool (I realize the FT in not pool specific, but does usually target the health pool to some extent), they won't be able to heal fast enough even with 400+ stim b's.
Master is worthless for pvp atm unless you don't mind spending all those pts for +10rl accuracy and flamecone2.......your better off with 0440
Get tka for meditate 2
A ranged kd is a must from smuggler or carbineer.
Don't ever flame special someone unless they're a) kd'd or b) delayed ........its too great a risk otherwise
Never wear your commando tag or have flamer equiped unless your gettin ready to torch someone in the above conditions.
Wear full composite with acid layers on helm andkinetic everywhere else.
Get as many damage sliced hpbc's that you can aka ol'painless, only use at 40-50m range.
What about field tactics. My glops o up to 1800 damage. I think its better to go 4/0/4/0. I mean lets face it with the RL u do up to 4k per with that and nades and a lil smuggler and tka. u will roc
I would suggest keeping the BH Carbine tree and getting only the FT line for commando if you want to PvP as a commando.
/dodge anti-dabbler flames
This combo allows you to use the BH knockdown and dizzy techniques from long-range and then use the flame-singles to finish off the target.
This is similar to the tactics used by most BHs, but replaces the LLC with a good flamethrower with a nice DOT attack.
