Thread: Almost to novice Commando. Any Advice For a Novice
As said above, you will be using your LP til you get to at least box 1 (you can then use /aim; /flamesingle1; and maybe hit something).
If you are in a guild/PA that has a generous master weaponsmith or 2 that will provide you with consumable heavy specials, then I would consider getting heavy weapons. The armor piercing and outstanding damage are nice and can let you blast through opponents armor well. I haven't been able to use them indoors though... not sure if this is how they are supposed to work ( I figure yes, but you never know).
The flame thrower's one great thing is the damage over time that you get by putting people on fire. That goes through armor and resists evidently. Not sure if any future patch will do anything to this though.

What was said bySethTorth and emsti is very good. I would just add that if you can get a good set of composite armor (and have the money to buy it), it is well worth it.
If you are in a group, you may get complaints about the framerate killer Launcher Pistol. And you will miss like crazy with the Flamethrower untill you get to the 3rd box in flame skills. If you are only going up one tree, then flamethrower is the way to go, imo.
Btw, consumable weapons, by design, cannot be used in-doors. This includes caves. I don't like it, but that's the way it is, for now.
