Thread: Our New Correspondent Is Coming...but did you know about it?
Well looks like we are getting a new correspondent soon...but I'm not entirely happy with the way the process took place...did everyone read TH's recent post in the Top 5 issues thread:
Straight and to the point. Thanks
I do get to everything, but it takes a while. There is an immense amount of data flowing through all of these forums and being thorough takes time and effort, which is why the Player Correspondents are vital to this process.
Which brings me to my next point - - you Commandos need a player correspondent.
I had several good candidates in line, but my PM box was overfilled and got flushed. (If anyone gets overlooked, I apologize)
So, if you are interested in being a Player Correspondent for the Commando Profession, please let me know.
I choose based on knowledge of the profession, I'm looking for an understanding of the profession, a strong ability to constructively post on the boards and strong communication skills.
Drop me a PM and lets get you guys hooked up with some representation.

Apparently TH posted this yesterday in the Top 5 issues thread that has been going on forever...around 4pm...I along with other's followed the instructions of a previous poster on how to apply (send an email to SWGCorrespondent or something like that...So when I read this today I figured the application process would be at least 24 hours to give everyone a chance to apply who wanted too...So I sent off my application and received the following distressing response:
Garvin,
Thanks very much for your letter. I was running tight on time and had to make a decision this morning, but I will put your name on my candidates list and when the position opens up, I'll let you know
thanks
th
That response was dated at 11am PST on 12/2...less then 24 hours from TH's original post...How many people actually had a chance to see that post? I don't get the chance to visit the forums very much later in the day...I didn't see the post until about an hour ago during my daily read through of the immense post. We have waited many weeks for a new correspondent, and in the end, with less then 24 hour notice, TH is running tight on time and forced to make a decission?!?
I'm not crying sour grapes for me...I'm crying sour grapes for our whole profession. It doesn't matter to me if I was choosen the correspondent (it's a lot of work and a lot of responsibility)...what does bother me a rush decission based on who might have read the post at the right time. How many seasoned commando veterns were eliminated by not knowing of this post? We have waited many weeks for new representation...we could have waited at least 24 hours...and it would have been better presented in a new post of it's own!!! We deserve that much instead of a rush job.
I hope the person choosen is the best person for the job, and not just a lucky individual at the right place at the right time. If they are true to what we need, then great, if not we are more in trouble then we were before. TH has told me that it is a person that has been around since Beta...so that makes be feel a bit better, but is it a person that posts here often...is it a person that has followed our threads as long as many other veterns...and is it someone who would be more qualified then other Veterns here who would have liked to apply, but didn't see the request for application.
By rushing the process and not giving the matter the attention it deserves what tone does this set for confidence in the new correspondent and how does this reflect our view of how SOE views us...We are just some group of game player that needed a bone quickly thrown to them.
So unless TH talked Ivoni into staying and she is the new Correspondent, our new correspondent might have a rather large hole to dig themselves out of created by this rush job's taint.
I am not posting this as a slam on TH...I still think that TH is doing a good job, but I really feel the ball has been horribly dropped on this one...If the deadline had been more then 24 hours, and if the request for applicants had been more visible and TH still picked the same person, then my confidence would be 100% in this new person (whomever they are)...but the fact that I know it was "rushed" because TH was on a "tight" deadline...this makes me wonder if I can every be 100% confident in our new Correspondent (if it's Ivoni then no question...and there are about4 other's out there I would stand fully behind as well...those who post here often)...
