Thread: Master commando, Master smuggler, 4000 cm?

I am going to respec to this template. Im tired of being the 349,439 person to have MBH, MCM even though i have had it for almost 2 years. I have a question though. Can Smuggler specials be used while using commando weapons. The commando tree's dont seem to have any specials associated with them. I was a master commando while holo grinding on my other account and i enjoyed it alot. but where did all of the specials go, or is the character skill program just not showing them?
I would consider TKM, Master Commando, but TKM just seems too anti-star wars to me. And if specials work for commando on the smuggler line, i would have more fun, especially after the smuggler revamp, might be a fun template.

Yes you can. Nothing better than using a Launcher Pistol and rooting 10 pvprs.

There are no special skills other than those that come from the weapons.

Commando no longer has special moves. Instead, the weapons have unique abilities, and, like all other ranged weapons, can be used with moves from other ranged professions. This is a point of contention between existing commandos and the developers. If you browse these boards, you will find a sea of proposed revamp posts.
I personally have master comm/master pistols/0040 smuggler along with some FS and medic skills. I love it, but it does lack a high damage special. Combining the crowd control specials of pistols and smuggler along with the innate area attack aspect of some commando weapons makes for good fun 
I'd wager you'd have plenty of fun as a MComm/MSmug as many people do it from what I read here. You might want to add some pistols for more special attacks, but your CM could shore some of that up.
I'd recommend against TKM/Commando as ranged andmelee professions mixed tend to compliment each other poorly these days due to how special moves now work. You would only have marksman specials to use with your commando weapons, which would be bad.

I am seriously considering this template. I prefer the control style of play to that of damage. Right now I'm working at MC/MBH, but not really liking BH that much except for the lightning rifle, and especially not wanting to do investigation line. Smuggler appeals to me more because of its crowd control abilities and because of slicing and spice and faction costs. However, I do wonder if the template really needs damage....previously I was MD/MCM and thus had no damage either, but I could keep myself alive for a loooong time, and had no problems there.

I like the aoe effect with crowd control skills like root and intimidate from Pistols, and low blow and concussion shot from smuggler.
But I did not like having no mid or high damage attacks to alternate between, so I went to 0444 Marksman, 0044 Pistols, 0030 Smuggler, 4000 CM, Master Commando. I can alternate between rapid fire and body shot for damage, and still have the crowd control abilities I wanted most. I am not CL 80 but everyone else in the group is so it does not effect me much.

I think Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire have the same damage multiplier, but Aimed Shot seems to cost less SAC.

Your full of crap, MBH for at least a year and a half took Master Scout and Master Marksman.

I found the same thing. I went M commando/M Smuggler and added rifle 4000 and pistol 0003. I have found that using the proton rifle i can get off stopping shot, sniper shot, head shot, and another sniper shot before the stopping shot wears off. I don'tPvP so I don't know how well that would work, but it does well in PvE. I am running into the problem of not being able to heal, so I am trying to figure out what to drop to get novice medic.

I found that there is no way to do any real damage with M Commando/M Smugger. So I was thinking, maybe something like M Commando/4040 Pistoleer/4030 Smuggler? Trying to figure out what to do :/
