Let say you have hit with one DOT and then hit again with another. Will the existing DOT be replaced with the new (duration and strength) or only if it is higher than the previous oor maybe not until it has run out?

If you're using the same special i.e Flame cone 1 I'm sure it just replaces the the last flame cone 1 DOT that you landed.
So it re-sets the timer and replaces the DOT with the last one you fired.
I'm sure that's it......

I gotta get me one of them template thingys that will allow me to live long enough to land multiple specials.
That way I'd be able to have a "valid" opinionon these questions.

Yes I thought it was like that but was not 100% sure. So if you use the tactic to "use high damage FT to stick DOT then witch to fast FT" tactic what do you do?. Do you use auto-attack, marksman specials or continue with one special and let the other DOTs do their work?

use multiple flamers and cycle between them doing single1... single2... cone1...cone2 on each one.

I use my heavy damage flamer and land flame single 1 then 2 then cone 1 then 2, until they all stick without being blocked, then If what I'm fighting is still alive I switch to my speedy flamer. Generally tho I only manage to land all 4 DOTs on something that has High resists to Heat, so once I land the DOT's I switch to TK and keep them on the floor, intimidated, stunned, blind blah blah and
