ok so Tyrant has left SOE, gone about two weeks now going on when he last posted and the IGN article today
the man had a goddamn rocket launcher in his office, he was the man. Garvin used to big him up all the time
no longer with SOE......this upsets me. Calandryll has gone, who imo did a better job of communicating with the community than TH ever did.

I don't see this news article on the IGN site. Where is it and when was it posted?
Edit: Never mind, I found the link on another thread. It's in RPGVault at IGN.
That really does suck. Over the past month or so I've notice that the development team has been making a lot of moves to make SWG 'similar to' Everquest. Reducing graphics quality, 'snappy' movement, new keyboard layouts... all of them seem to be designed to steal gamers from other games while removing the very factors that make SWG stick out from the pack.
In short, I think the development team is busy turning Star Wars Galaxies from a graphically stunning, uniquegame into 'just another MMORPG' with Star Wars textures.

Losing Tyrant wasnt just a blow to Commandos, although I never really saw his influence affecting us one way or another, it was a blow to the game in general.
As a very good friend pointed out to me, there seems to be noone that is taking the proverbial bull by the horns at SOE since his departure. While it may seem that he has only been gone a couple days, Tyrants influence effectively ended the minute he turned in his notice. I imagine whats going on behind the scenes right now can only be described as pure chaos....

Well, now that he's gone, he really doesn't matter to our game anymore. Sony will find a suitable replacement.

Define suitable. Tyrant was in a class of dev that is very small, consisting of himself and Greenmarine. Him leaving makes me think that perhaps SOE isn't really devoted to making SWG what it should be, and needs to be. Tyrant, in the short time he was here, really inspired confidence in me at least, whereas TH for instance has always inspired doubt and skepticism.
Bring back Tyrant.
Bring back Tyrant.

Tyrant also was the head of a few other projects, not just SWG...for all we know, he may have been rotated off the SWG project to focus on other work. None of us know the details, aside from that fairly vague comment in the IGN article...
For the game, yeah It does look like we lost him unfortunately...
, lets hope SOE didn't lose him...

Well from the IGN article, the man is a living legend, Finding a replacement will be hard. I also agree with the comments about TH - Tyrant was different, Garvin believed in him, other Corres believed in him.
I would hazard a guess its impossible to find somebody with his experience, and way of handling things.
However, there was an official word when Calandryll left..yet none for Tyrant yet. Even tho he left two weeks ago from Galaxies.
Dont we deserve an official word on this?

I'll wager that very lack of an official word means that SOE and Tyrant parted on less-than-amicable terms.

I agree...
Does this mean SWG is taking a turn for the worst?
Did he leave because they were implementing too many thing that have already been done?
I don't know what to think... But I do know that as much as I want to stay, I will LEAVE if it turns into another MMO this should be different, not a carbon-copy, I am quite certian SOE will lose many others if it indeed comes to this as well...

If you noticed thep ost wasn't really an announcement of Calandryll leaving it was an anouncement of Tiggs being the replacement. You may not get any annoucement until they find a replacement. There's also a good chance that Tyrant hasn't Officially left yet, but it working in a much reduced mode till his relacement can be found.
