Thread: Commando has no place in SWG, really needs to be axed

I sat and thought about our situation in a logical fashion. No need to get into what is broken or what can be done to fix this or that. All those posts have already been posted, and I am sure most of you are more than familiar with them and the problems they are concerning.
So the whole thing boils down to this, if commandos are supposed to be THE damage dealing profession with the balance lying in the inability to tank, then why wouldnt every ranged profession just go commando?
It is impossible for Commandos to be what they are supposed to be in the game. We cant be a profession that can 3 hit kill everything (when we are CL80) because that would put us out of balance with other professions, and yes I realize our damage dealing rating wasnt in balance with the others but those ratings seem to be completely arbitrary now.
Basically I am just thinking that nothing is really going to change our profession from the way it is right now into something more significantly effective, because they dont want every player to be a commando.
I have resigned myself to the fact that us commandos are not going to ever be as strong as we were led to believe we would be. I dont expect to see anything to happen at all for us. I am pretty bummed about it, but the writing has been on the wall for quite sometime.

Yeah, SWG already has a profession like that.

Yeah, SWG already has a profession like that.
We call them Jedi.

No not really, I get your point but the HUGE difference is that jedi CAN tank in the sense that they can heal themselves and boost defenses by 500. They are not offensive juggernauts, at least none that I have seen. They just can control their target and offset damage with mad heals.

Funny you should say that, the first thing I did with my master commando after the CU (thinking we would be the "pain-bringers") was pick up investigation4.

why take a commando if you can have a jedi who can do what we do + more?
i wanna boost my def by 500, that would help a lot
i wanna heal myself every couple seconds...
i have a flamethrower... it uh... does less damage than pistols

in other words, they don't want another profession like TKA was Pre-CU. Actually, I see BH a ton now, cause they can tank, deal much higher damage than other "High Damage" professions. The worst part of commando right now is the fact of the AOE. We Aggro nearby creatues when we attack with nearly all of our weapons, but deal no damage to that. I actually end up using my Renegade Pistol more, about a 447 DPS at 35m range, rather than a 429 DPS at a 25m range with a Plasma FlameThrower. So ive kept Commando in hope thatit will be fixed, but now I'm wondering if I show Respec it in the last few days I have....
