I was out taking advantage ofdble xpon Dant. A group formed, went out hunting. We were the usual distance a group uses when pulling from a lair. My Flamethrower (agro stick) brought down most of the lair on top of us, at least ten Bols. Most everybody got incapped. This happened a few times. I was told my weapon was just not good to use. When I got incapped , slain.....I did not get rezzed.

I don't blame em. I stuck with the agro stick to level commando, I made Master Commando...and it made me a better Master Rifleman. There was another commando in our group, he ended up using a different ranged weapon when he also saw how pointless it was to use our commando weapons. Ina group, its bad tactics, solo, its suicide.

This cannot continue. We are the only ones with no specials, our weapon damage compared to other ranged damage makes no sense. It's this common sense us commandos have that drives us nuts. We know our current status makes no sense.

Discuss.

My being upset at this hunting trip was only eased by the fact I just go into the Village. But man it still stings.

I feel your pain bro. I don't even go hunting with friends now with commando weapons because all we are good for are aggro-magnets. Sure, it's great to aggro others to allow for a group escape, but more often than not we are the cause of said experience. I now use my carbines over my flamerthrower, and at the moment am considering completely leaving SWG because of the poor job of planning that has gone into this gaem the past few months. I don't blame the devs, nor do I blame th eplayers who exploit the game mechanics. I simply blame the drive of SOE to make as much money as possible, failing to realize that no one person is the same--that this game doesn't have to be a copy of WOW or EQ2--and that if you make an enjoyable gaming experience--i.e. what we players want-- thne you will gian more players than what can be achieved via a new expansion during a major movie release. All that should have been released during RotS was the Combat Upgrade.....that in it's completion and mostly-bug-free state would attract pletny more people....then just release RotW a few months later when the bugs are fixed and George Lucas comes out with the six-movie DVD set.

Peace out I'm done

There are some uses for our guns. But is requires the right weapon, right target and right special. Case in point is th rocketlauncher, the dizzy shot form BH and a group of NPCs. I can dizzy and KD the whole group at one time. Then swtch to another gun and use full auto area to kill them all. Leaves teh NPCs on there back for about 5 seconds and that gives my group a good stat at killing them all off. But then my group usualy has a few carbiners with full auto area and we like to pound groups. I've done similar things with the HAR. Blind and snare at teh same time with criticalshot from carbiner at the same time. It takes the right tools for the right target.

I would love for our guns to do good area dmg instead of switchign weapons and using fullauto area.

I've been taking advantage of the double exp weekend (and the fact that TC is unplayable again...) to dust off my commando and level him up in the CU. What I found was not real appealing. Every commando weapon I tried was mass aggro (flamethrower = bad, acid stream launcher = bad, lightning beam cannon = bad). The only way for me to get reliable exp in a group was to use the heavy particle beam cannon and try to line up my shots so that I wouldn't have any other mob in LOS. This was the only weapon I could use and as I got closer to master commando the less use I was in the group for dealing damage due to the low level cert of the weapon. Fortunately for me I was grouped with a friend and his alt so I wasn't in danger of getting kicked for not being much help. This is really, really sad. Considering the pathetic damage that is done by the AOE's on these weapons there is really no point to use them or to even be a commando at this point. Solo leveling is bad, group leveling is bad.In caves and dungeons we are a total party wipe waiting to happen. We just get cool guns with cool graphics that draw way too much aggro on us while not dishing out anywhere near enough damage to make up for it.

I started this character in July 2003 when commando was heavily gimped due to restrictions on materials for crafting weapons, but I liked the challenge (I'm an old school mbh). I worked on him during the heyday of the flamethrower then put him on the shelf to pursue other things. I pulled him out again to more fully test what I started testing during CU beta. I will keep him as a commando in the hopes that things get better. I just hope they get better soon.

Back when spices could be stacked I used to love lobbing an Imperial Detonator (30m blast radius) at the lair of my groups missionand seeing what happened. It was a heck of a lot more fun the the typical "pull a creature, kill him, pull another creature, kill him" but I was lucky that I was hunting with guildmates because I don't think most people would have understood. Anyway, I doubt I'd even try it now that I can't stack spice up to 6000 health or whatever it was. It was a blast while it lasted, though.

/shout Fire in the hole!

Oh man, that was fun...
