Thread: Speed cap for Heavy Weapon?

I bought a +25 heavy Weapon speed CA , and my mod DPS was a lot better then

I bought another +23 Heavy Weapon speed CA, but my mod DPS didn't change

So, is there a speed cap?

Technically no. But there -is- a cap on mods. So technically yes there is.


Pre Cu you couldnt have mods more than +25 to any given stat from AAs/CAs


Post CU peole have claimed at least that the cap is now +30 in mods. Which means for attack speed if it's still same as pre-cu would be +50, or if it is +30 post CU +60 total in speed mods. How would this work? Simple...


+25 or +30 in a specific weapon speed

+25 or +30 in General weapon (ranged or melee)speed

Its not so much reaching a cap in attacking as it is the cool down timers....If you can get the right sequence of attacks going, you CAN fire once per second...My Commando has +25 heavy weapons speed, +25 general ranged speed, and +25 pistol speed (Commando / Pistoleer), and I hit once per second quite often. HOWEVER, the SAC is the killer...My plasma is something like 114 SAC...


Whats bad thou, and what I hate MOST about the CU, is I spend more time watching the freaking cooldowns that I do anything else. That in my mind is the biggest failure of the CU: watching my toolbar as attacks cycle really...really...really...sucks.

Yeah. A few commando friends of mine actually requested some flamethrowers crafted purely experimented in SAC first, and then damage second. Cause with their speed mods they'd be firing fast as can be anyway but since the average flamethrower out there on Bria at elast. Seems to have something in the order of 110 or so SAC... it really drains the action bar like theres no tomorrow.

Going to get my favorite WS to craft me a krayted flamer, experimentation into SAC, then damage....Then get a smuggler to hit it with a SAC slice (if thats possible - havent read up on it yet)

Before I dropped master commando I was at +130 speed/234 acc, I don't think I was even near the actual speed cap though I was shooting my PFT rather fast. I think 160-165 supposadly is the speed cap if it isn't diminishing returns.

aye currently with my full suit on my speed sits at about 150. But at least with my current flamethrower that's just suicide.

devs say +25 is still cap for sea's.

so you would not increase your speed with a second +25 heavy weapon speed

you would of course see a speed increase with a +25 general ranged speed though (I think it applies to heavy weapons as well)

Under the new system you cant slice SAC. Although it might change by the time it goes live I doubt it will.

SAC caps out on all HW at 100 SAC and in most cases its easily capped out during creation.


Capsof PFT are:

1144 max give or take the decimal points

100 SAC

about 2.5-ish speed.


Unknowns are the elemental and wound chance caps.


These of course are before slicing. With the new slicing system as someone has already demonstrated could supercede some of these caps. 10% Enhances speed was the one that was shown. It will be interesting to see.

Correct. General ranged weapon speed does stack with heavy weapons. I have some in my commando's ADKed suit
