I may have nissed something so I'd appreciate it if someone could enlighten me.

I somehow think that a ranged attack is an attack in which I use one object (such as a pistol, rifle, etc.) to project another object (blast of ifre , acid or laser beam, maybe even toss a grenade in order to cause as much damage to an opposing player.

-and-

a melee attack is hand-to-hand using fists,a stick, or a sword - hittingthe other player in order to induce that player to die in a horrible way.

From the other posts and information provided in game it appears that an attack from 16m (another assumption I make is that the m means meters) is considered a melee attack.

Melee attcks are 16m or less. I can understand a ranged attack from 16m or more but I'm having a real hard time understanding how I can hit someone with my human hands fromabout 45 feet away.Maybe 3 or 4 feet but if we have 45 foot long arms I'm switching to Tailor. My graphics card must also be defective - None of the other species I see appear to have extreamly long arms.

Someonecorrect my in my defination of meleeand the meaning of the m for the measurement.

Pease let me know that my character doen't really have armsmore than 40 feet long.

Thanks

They are usually up close when attacking something, but it is still a ranged attack. This is why Jedi can block our FTs as well as the pistols even though we are in melee range. However they cannot block TKMs since their attacks are melee based.

Hmmm. I had wondered about this myself, are we arranged or are we melee? I always figured, though, that since NPC's often gomelee on me when I'm using my flamethrower, I figured we were considered melee. Shooting a flame, in my mind, seems like arranged attack though.

I am sure someone can come in there and solidify this, but we can shoot our FTs from 64 meters out. Definitely not melee.

If my memory serves me correctly, we're considered Range now....I believe thats why we got the 2.5X to hit modifier (easier to hit as we're range...we're essentially holding a rifle at melee range with our specials)

Nevertheless, Ive noticed that regardless of weapon sometimes NPCs go melee whenever you're in melee range...so I think its just because you're close to them.

/shrug I can be wrong...but this is what Ive noticed...

Melee attacks are limited to 7m without the use of the lunge attack. The 16m is just a commando specials distance.

This is actually a problem that I hope gets fixed. NPCs treat flamethrowers as melee weapons, hence equipping their own, but it really is ranged, so we are at an inherent disadvantage.
