I don't know why i didn't think of it long before, but i have several books that have some awsome commandos. Would been nice if we were as dangerous as them.

From the Starfist series by David Sherman and Dan Gragg.

The Marines, aka commandos, had flame throwers but they actually worked like guns. you could actually snipe and kill at least 64m away. They could also do a solid stream fire and if you aimed at a rock long enough, you would slag it. Lets just say many enemy wereBBQ corpses when they were done. They also had camoflage that made the virtually invisible to the naked eye, but was not very good protection. But hey, how are you to kill something you couldn't see. They also had heavy machine guns that spit out fire, thier ATV's were repolsar lifts piloted by commandos and they had large turret flame throwers. For air support, which were commando pilots, they also had flame thrower guns, just like napalm that are straffed across a battle field. And to top it off, there heavy artillery had conventional firing or just a slight modification, became an flaming artillary cannon. Now that is a true commando army.

They did go up against a nasty enemy that had the equivalent of the HAR, except, thier acid would eat anything. flesh, bone, metal, plastics, ext. But they did have limited range. so they got the FT and HAR backwards. But the enemy had one fatel flaw. they went poof everytime hit by a flame. made nice little piles of ash. but they were like the chines army, more soldiers than you could shake a FT at. Oh, and they had a nasty heavy weapon that was a RAIL gun. (rail gun is a principle of throwing a heavy metal object with a magnetic force) A very very nasty kill anything type of weapon.

And from the book ARMOR by John Steakly

The commandos also had FT guns that had nice range and a lot of power. They had grendades that were like small napalm bombs, major distruction factor and no where near the thrower. ie: no personal damage. What i like in this one was the armor that put composite to shame. It was personalised armor, no one else could fit in it. It gave the wearer a major boost in speed and strength, but did way about a half ton. Oh, and if you turned all the relays on, it became a small nuke that caused major damage, just like the Preditors. Be funny to have a last resort command that blew the flock out of everything around you, of course, you end up dead too, but it would be a good group stratagy. Send in the insane kamakazi commando, such as me, and blow the freak out of a base, leaving it free for the taking by the rest of the group.

Ah, if commando profession could be just as half as cool as these, i be in love and we would be the most feared profession in the whole game. Oh well, a commando can always dream.
