Just wanted to restates something said there that some of it you may recall that you heard from some other source
More details on the Combat Upgrade will be coming out in January as we enter the alpha testing phase of that development.
PS...Notice that Gordon (SOETyrant) has been with SWG for 5 months...anyone notice any big changes in the way SWG has been getting things done in the last 5 months...This is a man who keeps an actual Rocket Launcher on his desk that he uses to "inspire" people.

PS...guess Gordon's post finally puts to rest that other rumor that was cirulating for a while about LucasArts wanted to seperate from SOE...especially since it appears LucasArts is going the opposite direction andincreasing the investmentwith SOE...

They can look at what you edited out you know. Even now burce is looking at ways to pull your eyes out when you least expect it.

To Quote from KOTOR II that I just got today:
"They're coming through! Arrreggh My Leg! They blasted my leg! No-n...Stop! Stop! Sto...AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!"
Paraphrased it...but heh...HK-47 is badass, and atm I suspect is trying to kill me.

On the same day I make a comment to the effect that SOE has failed to invest the resources needed to meet their deadlines, they go and announce they added 20 Devs to the team!
I guess Lucas called SOE to the mat for the drop in player base, and they negotiated for what it will take to make this game what it can and should be. Hopefully it's an incentive deal that will mean that SOE will make more when the player base grows. And hopefully SOE has reduced whatever delay the LucasArts review cycle has had on SOE's development plans.
Regardless, this is the MOST encouraging news that's hit the boards in a LONG time. We may get some CONTENT before the CURB!!!
Compliments of the now grinning lizard at RIENcorp. Have a pleasant evening.

Cheers to the suits in allocating more resources into a game that is based up one of the greatest stories ever told, Ep IV, V, and VI (I dont consider Ep I and II in the same ballpark as the original three...but thats another thread for another day. Get these noobs (lol!) to work and get your money's worth out of it. With these extra resources, you can fast track quite a bit and get things moving once their "orientation" is over with. If these guys and gals just work on the "minor" bugs that have plagued this game since launch, I would raise a toast as it being a HUGE success and step forward
/pessimist (realist?) view
A little too late, I would say. I understand that their budget for their next fiscal year was only out probably 1.5 months ago (end of October). I know how budgets work. But this doesnt make up for the broken promises, the vague posts, etc...
Phrases that bother me:
"These new folks won't have any affect on the in-progress Combat Upgrade, which has been fully staffed since Publish 10."
WHY?? Why not let the CU be the initiation for these people....It would greatly accelerate the CU, making everyone happy....There is no point to new content (travel to here, destroy this, pick up this, deliver it back there) when the professions involved are screwed up
"I have to caution that as with any large team change, it will take us a several weeks to get these new folks integrated and fully productive"
In other words...Six months? A year? I realize I am discriminating against Tyrant for being a red letter name, but the fact remains that the red letter names have built a reputation as being vague and ambiguous with the player base since day one. I simply do not trust anyone involved at SOE. Chaulk it up to experience. The only way I would begin believing these guys is if they fired everyone, and brought in new people. Credibility has been lost, and will take a while to regain it. I know Tyrant has a reputation among some people as being a straight shooter, but guilt by association is in play here...
Even knowing what I know about the future in this game, I still feel like its not good enough. I expect too much out of them, I suppose. I expect too much out of people. I honestly feel, that the CU will be as bug laden as the game is now, perhaps more so. There just is NO indication that they can get it right. That every profession is going work as intended out of the box. They have had 1.5 years to get the current set up working, and by and large, the combat system is as broken as it has been since launch. They fix one thing, break 10 other things. This game was in production long enough before release, and profs were STILL broken on launch day. They are STILL broken as of writing this, and beyond. Do you REALLY expect pistoleer to have more than 5 working specials (3 work right now) of...8...10? Do you REALLY expect the profs to work even 50 percent of their effectiveness, or their intended way?
I dont.

The biggest thing I want EVERYONE to take away from Tyrant's post is that he says JANUARY...SOETyrant isn't any ordinary Dev...consider him THE DEV IN CHARGE!!! When TH says something, things might change and dates might be missed...TH rolls with those punches...It's SOETyrant that throws those punches...When he says something, you can pretty much guarentee that's the way it's gonna go...So if he says January, it's a pretty good bet it's set in stone...He has a way of MAKING things happen...That's why ALL of us Correspondents love and respect him so much!!!
