Hey everyone,

I'm really in a slump right now guys. It just seems I can't get my act together, and I don't know if my template or tactics are to blame. Right now I have:

Master Commando

Novice Medic

BH 3/0/0/4

It just seems no matter what I do, no matter how sneaky I am, I always get defeated by jedi. I'm not sure if my skills or template is to blame. I've been considering:

Master Commando

BH 4/0/0/0 (Not sure if this is possible, maybe 3/0/0/0)

TKA 4/4/0/0

This should even the odds a bit, but it just doesn't seem right.Honestly I think melee is boring, but it seems so necessary. Going this way would improve the odds, but at the cost of LLC (which I like to use, but sadly it isn't good against jedi either), and doing it would just make me feel less... like a heavy weapons guy.

On the other hand, my tactics might be the problem as well. I get buffed, send out the droids and track the jedi, but the approach is where it's at. To improve accuracy, I use citros snowcake, 2 brandies, a neutron pixie, and a synthsteak. Then, I unleash rockets at about 40m (best hit I've gotten is 600 damage =/) and nades as the jedi charges at me. But after that, I pretty much run out of steam. /flamesingle2 is still pretty inaccurate with the snowcake, and kiting nukes accuracy even more.

At this point, it seems like my best options are :

A: Get some melee in my template.

B: Get a humongous gank squadron and have a brawl in the streets.

Option B seems logical, since most every jedi I hunt has a cadre of people guarding them.

I was just wondering what you guys thought. Any ideas on template or tactics? Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Jeb

Hey Jeb. I've (as most others) have found Jedi quite hard to crack. Unless you have MCommando/TKM it's a tough road solo. Basically, anytime I've had the unfortunate encounter with a hostile Jedi, I've used NO Commando skills and had to be a TKM.

In a group, it's a different story. Protons are awesome with a good melee group. I'm not a Jedi Hunter, but I've had group to group Jedi encounters.

  • Have a good melee group

  • Display anything except "Master Commando" or you will be singled out

  • Have TKA skills

  • Drop back (be sneaky) out of the blast radius and...BLAMO!

  • /tell the Jedi , "There's no mystical energy force controlling MY destiny...it's a lot of simple tricks and nonesence"

The latter either get's a ? or they get quite angry...never could understand why

Slainte to "Han Solo"

Your main problem is that you're ranged fighting Jedi. It doesn't matter how many accuracy tapes or acc food you use or whatever, a Master Saber Jedi will automatically block 85% of all hits, after the to-hit things with accuracy etc have been worked out. Grenades are the only exception to this, but they're short ranged and too inaccurate to hit, generally. Unless you get some Acklay Venom acc expreimented grenades and some Acc SEAs, they're pretty pointless. Good Jedi killing templates are MDoc with any melee profession. TKA for damage and dizzy/KD, I've seen a Swordsman with maxed Counterattack, Speed SEAs and an Acklay Hammer cut up a Jedi Knight like it was nothing, Pikemen with good loot weapons (Any kind of Fire, anything 1000 Damage+) can kill Jedi one-on-one well too. There's really not much you can do except invest in good grenades if you want to hunt Jedi as a Commando.

Don't Hunt jedi, and you won't have a problem.

Thanks for the responses guys,

I'll take your words to heart. I've got some acklay venoms from a geo run, I'll have those made into nades soon hopefully.

I think I'll try a bit of TKA, give LLC a rest. I genuinely do like to use the LLC, and honestly I would rather use that than a HAR. Big giant lightning shots just seem more impressive and useful than little pea drops of acid that the HAR shoots (not to mention the actual stats of the guns).

Right now I think I'm looking for:

Master Commando

TKA 4/4/0/0

BH 4/0/0/0 (3/0/0/0 if that isn't possible)

For some reason, I just don't feel like doing another melee profession. After mastering fencer and overall finding the experience unrewarding, I tried the ranged profession of commando. Ironically, I really like commando but now I have toadd inmelee to take down jedi (long story, I really don't like jedi).

You guys have any thoughts? I've been discussing this with my guild a lot. To me, melee just doesn't feel Star-Warsy.

On another note:

Earlier today, I was hunting down a jedi and missed the perfect opportunity to kill one after waiting for about 1.5-2 hours. He was in his city hall having a meeting with his guild and he lost his buffs halfway through (my buddy played a spy part perfectly, I give him a lot of credit. It was an excellent acting performance, he reported me all the info while I lurked in the town nearby. He played a curious low-level player who innocently walked in on a guild-meeting.)

I figured it would've been amazingly brazen and courageous: charge in bluntly during a guild-meeting and right before all his buddies, shout "GET SOME!" and smoke him with the flamethrower. But, I didn't rush in quick enough and he got rebuffed. =(

Had to back off, luckily didn't blow my cover.

Afterwards they all went to their nearby cantina to get mindbuffed and I figured, might as well go on a suicide rush just for laughs. Now, I'm not the most logical person but it seems like an insane guy with a flamer would be able to cause some serious havok in a crowded cantina.

I charged in fully buffed/pixied/brandied/etc and just started blasting the whole place with /flamesingle2 and /flamecone2. Course then the TEF kicked in, I got kicked out of the cantina. Once everyone got their bearings with shouts of "WTH" and "What just happened?" I was stuck from the TEF and got blasted to death by a desperado with a geo blaster. Luckily my crafty spy partner got away unscathed(he didn't get TEF'd), but I got absolutely smashed.

I guess gaming defies logic, I just always thought that unleashing liquid flames in a crowded area would cause more than slight burns on one person's action pool.

And that is why the CU is happening. You won't necessarily slaughter a cantina full of people, but you'll do a lot better.

If you're going TKA, I have to say, do not dabble. the mods (+70 damage for one) at master are a god-send. plus UH3, and Melee mit 3, you really don't stand a chance without it.

but that's jut mho, and I could be wrong.

Same thing he said. I'm TKM going Master Commando and when I tried it out before and saw my friend use it the TK defenses really helped while you were waiting to get your next attack in between the weapon delay (of course mine is 4.4 speed at the time and I thought it would never come). Anyway that's just my opinion so whatever floats your boat.
