Thread: Commando- Offense, or Defense?

Ok, I was just thinking about the CU whilst reading the GCW forum posts, and suddenly I thought about what Commando be best suited for- defense, or offense? I mean, we have the large weaponry for vehicles, but vehicles are nonexistant, and heavies just are horrid in PvP. But if we were given the E-Web, heck even bunkers, would you guys settle for more of a defensive role, key in the keeping of bases-vital to one's cause (at least in the future we hope)-, and never the frontline soldiers? Atm, there are no defensive roles, or offensive roles- jsut those that can do the most dmg or take the most dmg. So I guess what I'm trying to say here is:

Do you think classes should be looked at for defensive capabilites and suit them for a better GCW? If so, then what should Commando fit into? And if not, GO TO YOUR CORNER!!

Lol, just some random thoughts from your local, friendly (sometimes, depends on how drunk I am), Master Commando.....

Give me a decent suit of armor and weapons and I'll do it.

Its a trick question....commandos by nature are (at least should judging by pre-reqs, and those most likely won't change unless if we piss the devs off hehe) flexible warriors...and thus should be treated as so. Hence we could be viable soldiers in both defense and offensive measures...in dmg melee/ranged measures...and in tanking (our UA IV)

To me...this is what a commando is, and should be Post-CURB...and is something we're allvery supportive of...plus its logical...why have UA IV-Master Marksman for a profession that can't do both some forms of defense and offense? Isn't that the point of Special Forces? That they can adapt to situations and can be deployed to whereever they're needed? Even elite forces..such as the 101st in WWII...heh, anyone ever heard of Lt. Ronald Spiers of D Company (later became CO of E Company)? In all respects, HE was like a commando...and that division was on the frontlines for almost the entire European Campaign...both offensively and defensively.

In fact speaking of Spiers...nothing really is known about him or what he did afterwords...for a bit after the war, I do know he was the military governer of a german prison or something...and stayed in the Military - who knows, he may have become a Special Ops and simply "ceased to exist"...

Awesome post Stern!

I saw "A Band of Brothers" as well. As a matter of fact, I baught the box set for myself and for a close friends wedding gift (Also included one of my original Jump Wings from ANGLICO. He said it was the best gift )

If any of you can muster up the hundred bucks to buy the box set...it's well worth it!

Getting back On Topic...Commandos should have the ability to do both effectivly. Then pursure which to SPECIALIZE in by pursuing the elite version of one of our pre-reqs. Makes sence.

Slainte to versitility!

Matters what you choose to put in your other skill points. I think post CURB, what you choose as your supporting profession will determine your main profession.
